The Bulgarian sports development association, which is a partner in the project from Bulgaria, works for the development and promotion of volunteering in the sphere of sports in Bulgaria, and has conducted a number of campaigns and initiatives over the years and has insisted for years on regulatory collateral of volunteering.
The ambassadors had the opportunity to learn about various good practices in sport and volunteer area, discussed and planned sporting events, which are going to be held in each country within the European 2017 Sports Week, to be held in the last week of September 2017. In Bulgaria it is coordinated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. As part of the training, the young people met with Peter Mladenov - the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Youth Affairs, who shared his rich experience in volunteering and youth work and gave real examples of the realization of young people in Bulgaria and Europe. The International Group also visited the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski", where it had the opportunity to get acquainted in practice with the methodology "Learning through Sport" - a training approach involving the elements of non-formal learning and using sporting activities to achieve specific learning goals.

Young Ambassadors of Sport Volunteering project is a joint partnership between four countries and aims to promote volunteering in sport, equal opportunities and awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle by increasing participation in sport for all. The project provides 3 transnational meetings to present the results achieved at each stage and to provide a quality monitoring process. During international training, a team of qualified trainers will help prepare ambassadors for the organization and promotion of sporting events, motivation for sport and volunteer activities of their peers, and will structure the preparation of events to be held during the European Week of sport - September 2017.

The main work phases, dedicated to local actions, are related to the promotion of sport culture and raising awareness about the importance of being physically active, and the promotion of volunteering, its values and its benefits for society. Also the project plans ongoing processes of M&E, as well as a dissemination phase, both of them on local and international level. In addition, as final output the project will create an online platform which will gather all tangible results, best practices shared and indications for fellow organizations and stakeholders to follow the same path towards the promotion of sport culture and volunteering in sports as ways of promoting equal opportunities and combating social exclusion.

Project is co-funded by “Erasmus+” Programme of European Commission – Small Collaborative Partnerships and will be implemented in 24 months. Partner countries: Italy, Bulgaria, Poland and Denmark.
