10.12.2023
The third edition of the innovative international collaboration event EUSportLab, bringing together professionals in the sports sector, took place in Milan from December 8th to 9th, 2023. The initiative aimed to foster new partnerships, enhance the quality of already developed projects, and establish new sports initiatives within the framework of the European Union's "Erasmus+" program. With a collective vision to address the current needs of communities within the European Union and offer specific solutions with sustainable impact, 70 representatives of international sport organizations collaborated. These organizations leveraged the experience, competence, and professionalism of participants, sharing knowledge and striving for real, tangible, and lasting impact within their communities.
The Bulgarian Sports Development Association participated in EUSportLab for the third consecutive year, providing an opportunity to share experiences, best practices, and to jointly plan new initiatives with similar organizations across Europe. During the two-day event, partners dedicated their time to work on the sustainability of ideas and initiatives, forging new cooperative partnerships in the sports sector in view of the open call for submissions in 2024. Key speakers at the event included Luciano di Fonzo from the European Commission, who shared the Commission's perspective on the quality expectations of initiatives supported by the Erasmus+ program, and Christo Velkov, a Strategic Director at Special Olympics Europe Eurasia, who shared invaluable experience in fundraising and the sustainability of sports organizations.

Before their participation in EUSportLab, the representatives of BSDA, Yoanna Dochevska, Stefka Djobova, and Ivelina Kirilova, took part in an international partners meeting on December 7th, 2023, within the EntrepreNEETs initiative. EntrepreNEETs is a strategic partnership in the youth sector, co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, aiming to build entrepreneurial skills in social entrepreneurship, intercultural communication, project management, and ICT (Information and Communication Technologies). The project aims to tackle two main challenges: the strong representation of women in the NEET category (youth who are not in education, employment, or training) and youth from small communities, as well as the lack of female entrepreneurs. EntrepreNEETs' primary strategy to achieve this goal is to provide youth workers with tools based on non-formal education (NFE).

On December 9th, 2023, the final meeting of the "Multisport Community Experience" took place as well. This joint partnership, supported by the Erasmus+ program, involves five European organizations: the Bulgarian Sports Development Association (Bulgaria), Sports Association in Dubrovnik (Croatia), European Platform for Sports Innovation (Belgium), NGO Nest Berlin (Germany), and the University of Thessaly (Greece). The "Multisport Community Experience" is a social innovation sports project aiming to offer a comprehensive and enjoyable activity in the form of a game for all age groups. The game consists of teams competing: community members register on the MCE project platform or application, providing information about their level of physical activity and other lifestyle details. Subsequently, the platform/application calculates individual results and combines them into the community's "health index." Individuals can earn points for their team by engaging in physical activity, participating in local social events, and organizing such events. Consequently, the MCE project serves a dual purpose: to encourage participation in sports and foster a sense of belonging and connection to the community.
