#SAFESPORTEVENT – PARTNER OF THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL FORUM FOR SPORTS SAFETY

The Bulgarian Sports Development Association-led #SafeSPORTevent project is an official partner of the International Forum for Sports Safety 2022 – the first global step for international sports safety cooperation, which was held on the 24th of November, 2022. The event is organized by the Korea Sports Safety Foundation (KSSF), together with the Korea Sports and Olympic Committee (KSOC) and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The event was broadcasted live on YouTube and recordings are available at the website of the initiative: http://www.issforum.or.kr/.
This event is the first online-focused forum in the field of Sports Safety, during which active organizations from Germany, Japan, Korea and United Kingdom and members of IOC commission, discussed major businesses and experiences regarding the topic. Topics of the event were Korea’s sports safety education and training – success know-how, The key to sustaining and disseminating Japan – Sports Safety Insurance Program, Importance & trends of risk management in major sporting events, Policy and pending issues regarding sports safety management in Germany, The role of SGSA on sports grounds & issues facing today.

Among the speakers of the event were Kee Heung Lee –Member of the International Olympic Committee, President of Korea Sport & Olympic committee, Head Director of Korea Sports Safety Foundation, Yong Man Cho – Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Korea, Seung Min Ryu – Member of the International Olympic Committee, Head of International Sports Strategy Foundation, Jin Owan Jung – Korea Paralympic Committee, Chang Soo Joung – Secretary General of Korea Sports Safety Foundation, Takashi Nagasawa – Deputy Secretary General of The Sports Safety Association, Patrick Vajda – Member of IOC Athletes' Entourage Commission, President of International Federation for Sports Officials, President of XAW, David Schulz – Secretary General of Foundation Safety in Sports Germany, Darren Whitehouse – UK SGSA, Head of Strategy and Partnerships.

#SafeSPORTevent project comes in very challenging times for Europe and the World when safety and security are crucial and the sport sector is not an exception. #SafeSPORTevent is an Erasmus+ co-funded initiative that aims to protect athletes, officials and fans, participating in sport events, from health and safety hazards by improving training and competition conditions and especially during forcemajor security threads that need to be handled by specific security protocols. #SafeSPORTevent project developed skills and knowledge of sport managers, volunteers and administrators through educational mobilities in order to empower them to co-create and use specific protocols for safety and security, tailored for sport events and gatherings of huge groups of people in sport environment. Through increased educational possibilities in the field of safety and security in sport, #SafeSPORTevent project ensures positive change in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey as direct project beneficiaries, but also all over Europe as project deliverables – practical handbook and checklists are freely shared with the sport community through the project webpage: www.safesportevent.net.
