On the 9th and the 10th of May, 2022, in the city of Palermo, Sicily, a partnership meeting under the ORIENT project was held. The achieved results so far and the organization of future project activities were discussed. The consortium consists of 5 European countries and one of the Western Balkans: Italy, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Kalinka Gudarovska, a Board member of the Bulgarian sports development association took part in the meeting.

May 9, 2022 marks the 15th anniversary of Bulgaria's membership in the European Union. Our country joined the European family in 2007, believing in the words of one of the founding fathers of the EU, Jean Monnet, "There is no future for the people of Europe other than in union". On May 9, 2022, from 10.00. until 11.30, in Zaimov Park, a sports holiday and celebration of Europe Day was held, which was attended by children from the 195 "Mormarevi Brothers" kindergarten. The host of the event was Nadezhda Panayotova, the Bulgarian voice of one of the favourite Disney cartoon characters – Elsa.

On May 4, 2022, the town launched a four-month free physical activity program of adults, coordinated by the local partner of the project – the Health in the northwest association. The pilot sports program is coordinated by Health in the northwest association at local level and after its completion the benefits of such programs are going to be analyzed. At the beginning of the program, the exercises were presented by Ivelina Dimitrova – kinesitherapist and specialist in adapted physical activity and sport, who is also the creator of the corrective methodology Class4YourBack. The four-month pilot program is going to be implemented by proven sports professionals from the town – Tatiana Elenkova and Plamena Chuburova.

In the period 29.04–03.05.2022, a partnership meeting under the "DuMotion" project was held in the town of Dubrovnik. The meeting was attended by project partners and young people from Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Turkey and Croatia. During the meeting, the Dubrovnik tournament was held, which was attended by volunteers and students from the Vasil Dechev High school and the Olympic Hopes Sports School in Chepelare, led by the director of the sports school Mr. Radoslav Agovski. Ivaylo Zdravkov, a board member of BSDA, took part in the partnership meeting on behalf of the Bulgarian sports development association.

Dubrovnik, May 2, 2022. - 240 volunteers trained to volunteer in sports competitions, participation of volunteers in more than 25 national and international sports events, a large survey of volunteering involving over 200 sports clubs, one million and two hundred thousand people reached, a handbook on volunteering in sports competitions covering all aspects of organization of a sport event - these are just some of the results of the 30 month EU project "Du Motion" presented today at the International Conference on Volunteering in Sports in Dubrovnik's Lazareti.

In the period 01-04 of May 2022, in Sofia, Bulgaria, was held the final meeting of #SPORTolerance initiative which gathered the partners from Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria and Cyprus that worked together in the last two years to achieve tolerance and solidarity through sport. Through the project lifetime, different international and national actions have been implemented in the partner countries, aiming to empower sport experts and organizations to use sport as a powerful tool for positive change in our societies. On April 29, 2022, in the sports hall of the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski", Gurguliat building, a tournament for people with disabilities was held, which was organized by young sports experts from Bulgaria. Within the framework of the MOVING tournament, the methods developed within the framework of the mentioned initiative were tested and young people with intellectual disabilities took part in it.

In the period October 2021 – April 2022, a free Happy Bones therapy for women diagnosed with osteoporosis was held in Sofia. The therapy aimed to strengthen their general condition and improve their physical activity. More than 20 ladies from the capital joined the program, and due to the specifics of the period, some of them took part in person, and some of them joined online. The next planned activity within the initiative is a free training of 20 instructors under the "Happy Bones” program – physical activity for people with osteoporosis, which will take place on June 26, 2022. The registration is now available on the website of the Bulgarian sports development association.

In the period 20-24 April 2022, in Malatya, Turkey, an international meeting under the "Sports for inclusion and inclusion for Sport - InSport" project was held, which brought together partners from 4 European countries - Bulgaria, Italy, Lithuania and Turkey. Sports for inclusion and inclusion for Sport is a project that seeks to encourage social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport through improvement of skills of coaches, trainers and other staff of organizations active in the fields of sport, youth work and social care and activities related to the social inclusion through sports - Bulgarian sports development association, which is a partner of the initiative from Bulgaria, was represented by Ivaylo Zdravkov, a board member of BSDA.

On April 21, 2022 – the Holy Thursday, from 11.00. until 12.30 the traditional painting of Easter eggs and sports games took place on Sveta Nedelya Square and was attended by over 250 children from the capital's schools. At 12.30 a festive procession started with children carrying icons and baskets of painted eggs, led by clergymen of the Sofia Holy Metropolis. The festive procession took the following route: from Sveta Nedelya Square – Vitosha Blvd. – Alabin St. – Graf Ignatiev Blvd. to the Church of the Holy Septuagint. The children were greeted by the temple priests, who gratefully accepted the Easter eggs and cards with icons for the people in need. A donation of the painted eggs was also made to the medics from the Military Medical Academy, who received baskets of colorful joy and gratitude from the children for their care for all of us. On April 16, 2022, in the town of Berkovitsa, a training event was held. During the event, health and sports experts from the town got acquainted with the specifics of physical activity for adults. The training was conducted within the HEPA (Health Enhancing Physical Activity) project, co-funded under the Erasmus+ programme of the European union, which aims to encourage participation in recreational physical activity for seniors (persons age 65+) by developing new recreational sport programmes suited for 3 types of most common health conditions – back pain, cardiovascular diseases and osteoporosis. The initiative is running simultaneously in five European countries – Bulgaria, Croatia, Portugal, Slovenia and Serbia. The Bulgarian partner of the initiative is the Bulgarian sports development association.

On the 15th of April, 2022, in Sofia, a dissemination event under the “Working to Approach Youth Workers as Agents of a Response to Disability” (WAYWARD) project was held. Тhe capacity building initiative in the field of youth involves 7 partner organizations from Greece, Ireland, Italy, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Mexico and the Philippines with the overarching am of empowering personal development, overcoming of stereotypes and social inclusion of young people (age 18-25) with intellectual disability in partner countries through the empowerment of youth workers and NGOs in terms of understanding and methodological toolset based on the ETS (Education Through Sport) methodology.

In the period 13–14.04.2022, in Sofia, Bulgaria, dissemination events under the Enhancing Health and Physical Activity Rates through Pentathlon – EHPARP project were held. More than 50 coaches, sports specialists and students from the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" took part in them. During the events, topics such as: characteristics and profiles of athletes in modern pentathlon; the potential of grassroots sports as a means of promoting the positive effect of physical activity on health and education; how sport can be used as a means of transmitting positive values of fair play; following the rules of the game; mutual respect; solidarity; honesty; discipline.

In the period 11–14 April 2022, in Plovdiv, Bulgarian sports development association conducted a practical football training as part of the „Football as a Seed for Gender Equality“ project. The objective of the project is to fight discrimination and gender inequality through sport. In order to achieve the project's objectives, Bulgarian sports development association organized a sports competition between boys and girls, who while playing and spending time together, faced the women’s participation in sports and learnt to see the differences between gender, culture and language as added value, not as obstacle.

In the period 11 – 14 April 2022, within the events held in the capital, organized at the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski", with the participation of lecturers, students, athletes, physical education teachers, sports professionals and coaches, the benefits of the "BOOST-Boosting Outstanding Omnicompetent Successful Talents" project were presented. During the meeting the following topics were discussed: the need to increase skills and employment opportunities; modernized education; training and youth activities with a focus on young people and the development of transversal skills and their importance for the personal and professional development of young people in Europe.

On April 14, 2022, during an ongoing training of youth workers in the capital, organized by the Bulgarian Memory Foundation in partnership with the "Municipality of Bulgarians in ATO Gagauzia" Association, the benefits of BOOST-Boosting Outstanding Omnicompetent Successful Talents project were presented. Within the "Building skills for the development of digital and entrepreneurial skills among young people and the formation of European values" project, co-funded under the Erasmus+ programme, KA 1, the transversal skills and their importance for the personal and professional development of young people in Europe were discussed by the participants. The project brought together youth workers from Bulgaria and Moldova at a 7-day seminar.

In the period 12-13.04.2022, at the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski", Bulgarian sports development association held a number of dissemination events under the "Re (IN) novating Marketing Strategy Across Semi-professional Female Teams" (RINMSASFT) project, in which students, coaches and sports specialists took part. The event presented the achieved project results so far and discussed topics focused on the needs to strengthen the competences of managers of semi-professional female sport teams through an up-skill process related to marketing, communication and visibility strategies.

In the period 09–12 April 2022, in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, an international training of young sports experts from Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy and Portugal was held, during which the methodology Education through sport was presented. The methodology is using non-formal educational methods in sports environment, which in this initiative are adapted to work with young people with intellectual disabilities. The meeting was attended by Joanna Dochevska, Teodor Petrov and Petar Shopov – representatives of the Bulgarian sports development association – a partner from Bulgaria. Within the framework of the MOVING project, a sports event will be organized to test the developed methods, in which young people with intellectual disabilities will take part. Each of the partner countries will organize at least one event.

On April 11, 2022, at the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski", Bulgarian sports development association held an event under the Balanced Living through Healthy Nutrition Habit project, which was attended by students, coaches and sports professionals. During the event the results achieved so far in the project were presented and topics focused on various aspects of the overall healthy lifestyle (sports, physical activity and healthy nutrition), appropriate methods and practices for non-formal education on the topic, as well as the effect of healthy nutrition on various educational and sports activities, were discussed.

An international meeting under the South-East European Youth Parasport Exchange –SEEYou project was held in Vienna, Austria on 07–09 April 2022, during which the partners discussed the sports camps for children with intellectual disabilities held in the partner countries, as well as the training of sports specialists working with them, organized so far. The forthcoming activities were also planned, including a sports camp and training of sports specialists in Milanovac, Serbia, which will take place in September 2022. Training and sports activities contribute to the development of sports for people with disabilities in partner countries – Croatia, Serbia, Greece, Belgium, Bulgaria and Germany. The meeting was attended by Stefka Djobova – a representative of the partner organization from Bulgaria – Bulgarian sports development association.

In the period 04–07 April 2022, an international meeting under the SONKEI project was held in Sofia, Bulgaria, which was attended by 8 partner organizations form 8 European countries – Bulgaria, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Turkey and Croatia. During the meeting the activities of the project so far were discussed, the partners presented good practices and tools for dealing with racism and violence in sports and worked on creating the practical educational tools for children and youth to raise awareness of violence in sport.

On April 5, 2022, in Sofia, Bulgaria, the first local sports event under the ONE GOAL project was held, which was attended by over 40 women sports coaches. During the event, theoretical and practical sessions were held in which topics such as: knowledge and qualifications about women's football; methods and practices for developing the skills of the women's football coaches; improving the physical and technical qualities of female football players; role models in women's football; psychological methods and techniques for working with adolescents, were discussed. The event was implemented with the support of the Football and Tennis Department at the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" and highly qualified and experienced football coaches, such as Assoc. Prof. Kornelia Naydenova – coach of the goalkeepers in the women's team of Bulgaria and NSA.

Eating Disorders have suffered a significant increase around the world over the past decades with statistical data provided by ANAD (USA National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders), suggesting that 9% of the population worldwide suffers some kind of ED. In the sport sector, prevalence of these issues is exceptionally worrying, as athletes are more prone to fixation for perfect physical appearance and performance. Even though professional athletes count with the help of nutritionist and psychologist to guide them in their journey, amateurs’ sport coaches do not have the necessary training and knowledge to identify risky behaviours and act upon them.
