SHOWDOWN

International meeting under the SHOWDOWN project in Spain
11.03.2025
From March 8-11, 2025, an international partner meeting for the "SHOWDOWN" project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, took place in La Coruña, Spain. The project aims to facilitate and promote the participation of individuals with visual impairments in sports and physical activities that enhance their health and support their social integration. At the heart of the project is the promotion of the game of showdown—an inclusive sport accessible to people of all ages, genders, and abilities.
During the meeting, partners discussed key topics related to the project's management and sustainability, including:
• Maintenance and updates of the official Showdown website;
• Finalization of the "Showdown" guide for organizing safe and inclusive sports and physical activities;
• Sustainability plan and long-term utilization of the project results;
• Strategy for dissemination, communication, and promotion of the guide and related events.

Participation in sports offers significant benefits for physical, mental, and social well-being. However, individuals with visual impairments are often excluded from sports activities due to a lack of training, inaccessible facilities, and limited opportunities for participation. The "SHOWDOWN" project aims to overcome these barriers by developing a guide for organizing inclusive sports and activities, identifying the needs of people with visual impairments, and training organizations to provide safe sports practices.

The SHOWDOWN project is co-funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ Programme and will be implemented by an international consortium from Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, and Spain.
