Bulgarian sports development association successfully implemented a series of activities under the Orienteering with Snorkeling project in the period until August 2024. The initiative was aimed at young people with physical disabilities and their partners and included a total of nine sessions – six on the seaside in Ravda and three in a swimming pool in Sofia.
The local activities were implemented in partnership with ParaKids – a project of “Shark” Sports Club Association, which provides sports for children with disabilities, spinal curvatures and overweight. ParaKids' mission is to make sport accessible to all, regardless of their ability, by aiming for every child to be physically active and have a choice of a variety of sporting activities.
The project has achieved significant success, with each successive session building on the previous one, allowing participants to develop their skills and confidence. Despite the initial challenges of some participants adapting to the water environment, the sessions were a success thanks to the support of qualified coaches and the attentive approach to the participants.
The Orienteering with Snorkeling project activities proved to be highly successful and provided meaningful and memorable experiences for all participants. The positive feedback from coaches, families and children highlights the importance of inclusive sport activities and their potential to bring communities together.
OR. with SNORKELING is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and is going to be implemented by an international consortium from Bulgaria, Turkey and the Republic of North Macedonia.
