TRAINING COURSE FOR SPORTS EXPERTS HAPPY BONES HAS BEEN COMPLETED

In the period July 17-24, 2021 an online training course was held on the project „Happy Bones“. The meeting was attended by Mustafa Altunsoy from Gazi University (Turkey), Prof. Massimo Saketi from Foro Italico University (Italy), Prof. D.p.s. Drossescu Paula from Iasi University (Romania), dr. Mariana Brocateli, dr. Simona De Belonia, as well as selected sports specialists for work with people suffering from osteopenia/osteoporosis. The partners from the project, together with the selected sports specialists, discussed different methods, practices and potentialities for specific physical activity suitable for people with osteoporosis. Specific activities in the project were also discussed, the achievements achieved so far, as well as the future steps, which need to be done for its successful completion.
The topics, which were discussed during the onlain education were:
● Epidemiological aspects of osteoporosis;
● Anatomy, physiology and biomechanics of the bone tissue;
● Effects from physical activity on health and physical condition;
● Physical activity and health of the bones;
● Psychological aspects of menopause.
In the practical sessions were affected topics like:
● Definition and explanation on the protocol on the sessions about physical activity and sport;
● Theoretical hypothesis related to osteoporosis;
● Innovative aspects of the training protocol at work with patients with osteopenia/osteoporosis;
● Strategy and methodology for adaptation on physical exercises and activity for elderly patients;
● Key moments for successful conducting of training session;
● Structure of education and training;
● Functional measurements and evaluation of people with osteopenia/osteoporosis.
MAIN GOAL OF PROJECT HAPPY BONES:
Given the need to promote patients with risk or suffering from osteoporosis to exercise physical activity , as well as training health professionals on how to promote them, the goals of project HAPPY BONES are:
● Develop and promote an innovative protocol for exercises for osteoporosis for immobilized women of age 50-65 years, so they include them in moderate exercises and as consequence, to raise their quality of life (physiologically and psychologically);
● Education of trainers and experts in physical education with special skills in the participants countries, to standardize the protocol for exercises for osteoporosis and to make it transferable and applicable in other contexts as well and other countries. The education will be organized in the methodology education of trainers,to cause a cascading effect and to involve more operators in the sector;
● To compare denial and compliance of the training protocol in the two different amongst (workplace and sports association), to find out which is the best decision for promotion of regularly physical activity. Adhering to the project, the employer is involved in the health of his employees and in the same time accepts actions to reduce indirect costs, caused by hours of absence caused by possible risk due to pathology.
