EUROPEAN SPORTS FESTIVAL AT 81ST VIKTOR YUGO SCHOOL

On May 22, 2023, in the 81st Innovative School "Victor Yugo", Mladost region, a European sports festival was held, in which more than 200 children from the school itself took part, as well as future students from №59 "Elhitsa” and №56 "Zdravets" kindergartens. The participants had fun with sports and relay games, and Darko Team Athletics School contributed to the sports smiles, which besides with the sports specialists, joined in with an attractive mascot that delighted the children – the Darko wasp. A large number of volunteers took care of the excellent organization, including young people from metropolitan schools and young sports specialists from the Vasil Levski National Sports Academy.
On May 9, 2023, 16 years of Bulgaria's membership in the European Union were celebrated, which gives us an opportunity to turn the month of May into a European month and to celebrate our country's membership in the great European family with a European sports holiday. Our country joined the European family in 2007, believing in the words of one of the founding fathers of the EU – Jean Monnet "There is no future for the people of Europe other than in union".
The event was organized by Bulgarian sports development association (BSDA), the Sunday School at the Church of the Nativity, the Sunday School at the Church of St. Martyr Paraskeva, Association of Bulgarians with Asthma, Allergy and COPD and Theater Company “Empty Space”.
During the sports event, emphasis was placed on the unifying values of the EU – freedom, peace, equality, family, responsibility, justice, tolerance and solidarity. The event was realized within the FitforKids Europe initiative, which is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European union. The project is a public multi-component intervention that is implemented in Denmark, Bulgaria, Italy, Portugal and Turkey and aims to improve the lifestyle and health of children and their families and to improve and optimize their healthy weight.
