SHARE 2.0 CoP – Funding for sustainable sports infrastructure
04.09.2024
On September 4th 2024, an online capacity building event on European funding for sustainable sports infrastructure was held. The event was part of the SHARE 2.0 Community of Practice (CoP) initiative for EU funding. The main objective of the event was to provide participants with valuable information on the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and funding opportunities for sustainable sport projects.
The event kicked off with a welcome speech by Stefano Pintus, representative of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC), followed by a presentation by Boryana Spasova from the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy on the ERDF and its application to sustainable sports infrastructure. The presentations were complemented by successful examples from different projects, such as the presentation of the Surfing Viana High Performance Centre in Portugal and the Tomaszów Lubelski Sports Centre in Poland. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and receive specific guidance on applying for EU programmes. The event ended with closing remarks from DG EAC and guidance for future steps and events related to SHARE 2.0 and the funding of sustainable sport initiatives.
