BSDA HELD A TRAINING UNDER THE RAMPS4CHAMPS PROJECT
13.03.2023
On the 13th of March, 2023, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Bulgarian sports development association, with the support of the “Adapted Physical Activity and Sports” sector at the “Vasil Levski” National Sports Academy, conducted a training within the “Ramps4Champs” project, which is implemented in partnership with 5 European countries – Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Serbia and the Republic of North Macedonia. Coaches and sports specialists from the “APAS” master's program took part in the training and had the opportunity to learn more about the practical and theoretical tools for socialization and social integration, through the sport of boccia for people with disabilities, to discuss the power of sports to support integration processes in society and how it can be used as a catalyst for a more effective and sustainable social change.
The main output of the Ramps4Champs project is a guide on how to organise safe and inclusive Boccia BC3 activities including both people with disabilities and their able-bodied peers. To achieve this trainers and coaches will be trained on delivering Boccia BC3 activities but also on first aid and secondary care for people with disabilities.

Boccia is a Paralympic sport designed for athletes with high support needs. It is played indoors and can be played individually, in pairs, or in teams of three; it is mix-gender and the aim is to throw balls as close as possible to a white marker ball. BC3 is a Boccia classification played by athletes with significant limitations in arm and leg functions, such as tetraplegia and myopathies.

The Ramps4Champs initiative is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
