BSDA joined sports festival in Karlovo
15.11.2023
On 15.11.2023, in the town of Karlovo, the SONIC START sports festival - 15 YEARS TOGETHER and BEYOND with 15 challenges for 15 teams in 15 activities took place, marking the anniversary of a socially responsible company providing successful reintegration for children and adults into society. Representatives of the BSDA took part in the event and supported the celebration of Community facility for people with intellectual disabilities in Banja town - an institution with which BSDA has been successfully partnering for over 10 years.
Participants, including residents of Community facility for people with intellectual disabilities in Banja town, as well as children and young people from schools in the town, had fun together with a puzzle game, created the longest letter, participated in sports challenges, drew, and prepared food for all attendees. Representatives from the Sunday School at the Temple of the Nativity of Christ, Sunday School at the Temple of St. Paraskeva the New Martyr, and the Association of Bulgarians with Allergic and Pulmonary Diseases also participated in the event.

BSDA works purposefully to include people with disabilities through sports activities, where representatives from Community facility for people with intellectual disabilities in Banja town had the opportunity to participate in an international sports event in Croatia in April 2023, as part of the #SMILE initiative that encourages sustainable integration of people with intellectual disabilities in sports activities at local, national, and international levels. In 2024, BSDA will continue its activities in adapted sports with three main initiatives: P.E.rfect - a project that supports the effective inclusion of children with autism spectrum disorders in the educational system; Ramps4Champs - an initiative with activities to popularize Paralympic Boccia, for class BC3, involving both people with disabilities and their peers without disabilities, and #BeInclusiveWaterPolo, which will kick off in 2024 and aims to establish the foundations of adapted water polo in our country. These activities are realized thanks to the support of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.
