BeInclusiveWaterPolo

BSDA will coordinate #BeInclusiveWaterPolo
10.09.2023
Team sports bring people together and the development of inclusive water polo aims to achieve that, breaking down stereotypes about people with intellectual disabilities in a really fun way. In Inclusive Sports, teams are made up of people of similar age and ability. That makes practices more fun and games more challenging and exciting for all. Having sport in common is just one more way that preconceptions and false ideas are swept away. Achieving inclusion through sport in a practical way.
Inclusive Water polo is a truly new experience in the field of inclusive sports for people with intellectual disabilities, which had its first demonstration in 2022 during Special Olympics Malta Invitational Games 2022. Aiming to follow the new trends in inclusive sports and to present to local community new forms of adapted physical activity, the #InclusiveWaterPolo project will contribute significantly to both:
1. Inclusion opportunities through sport of persons with intellectual disabilities and
2. Water polo sport clubs in Bulgaria and Croatia which will be able to present new, practically tested opportunity for people with disadvantage background and thus why – straighten their capacity in the field of adapted sports.

Main project outputs:
• International Inclusive Water polo event with participants from Bulgaria and Croatia;
• Printed edition of the handbook "#BeInclusive Water polo", which will empower sport clubs in the EU to use the practically tested during the project methodology and develop inclusive water polo programmes in their sport organizations;
• Online platform where an online edition of the handbook and guideline videos on the rules of inclusive water polo will be published.

The #BeInclusiveWaterPolo initiative involves 3 partners from 2 different EU countries – Bulgarian Sports Development Association, Association of Bulgarian Swimmers and Rijeka Sport Association for Persons with Disabilities - experienced organizations in the field of sport with know-how of project management that they can transfer in the project lifetime. #BeInclusiveWaterPolo is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
