05.12.2024
On the 4th and the 5th of December 2024, the final international partner meeting of the Carbon Neutral Sports Club Network – C ZERO SPORTS CLUB project took place in Milan, Italy. During the event the partners discussed the results achieved, including the implementation of the "Carbon Footprint Measurement Programme for Sports Organisations" and the lessons learned from its pilot implementation. The final steps for the establishment of the Carbon Neutral Sports Club Network and the roadmap for future sustainable activities were also presented.
The project aims to encourage small European sports clubs to take action to protect the climate through eco-friendly management and the use of innovative digital tools. The Carbon Footprint Measurement Programme developed within the project is going to be transformed into an app that will be used by a growing number of sports organisations as a mandatory element within the newly created network.
A photo competition aimed at raising the visibility of sustainable activities in sport took place within the project, with the participation of sports organisations from all over Europe. After an evaluation by a jury composed of members of the international consortium Carbon Zero Sport Clubs, the Bulgarian organization SC " Pirin Academy" was declared the winner. A representative of the winner had the opportunity to attend the final conference in Milan. A total of 10 representatives of the Bulgarian sports development association, a partner in the initiative from Bulgaria, as well as sports experts from 7 partner organisations from Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Serbia and Turkey, who work together to promote eco-friendly practices in sport, took part in the meeting. The C ZERO SPORTS CLUB project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission.
