The "Empowering Grassroots Sport for Inclusion and Development" (EGSID) project is an inspiring initiative that uses the power of sports to drive social change, aiming to uplift marginalized communities through increased access to sports. Recognizing that sport is more than just physical activity, EGSID views it as a powerful tool to foster social inclusion, promote health, and enhance overall well-being. This project is particularly focused on creating a sense of belonging for underserved groups by bridging social divides and cultivating a cohesive community spirit.
EGSID’s strategy revolves around strengthening local sports organizations to ensure they are inclusive, effective, and sustainable in the long run. This involves offering essential training and resources to improve the governance, management, and operation of these entities. By building up local capacity, the project aims to make grassroots sports more accessible, with programs that address the needs of diverse groups within the community.

A vital component of EGSID is its commitment to promoting European values, such as equality, non-discrimination, and human rights. The project aligns these principles with the role of sports in fostering tolerance and social change, highlighting how sports can bridge cultural and social divides. By embedding these values, EGSID seeks to contribute to a more equitable society, where everyone has the opportunity to participate in sports regardless of their background.

Another core objective of EGSID is fostering collaboration between Albania and the European Union, building partnerships that enable knowledge sharing, best practices, and resources to enrich grassroots sports. Through these international exchanges, EGSID not only enhances the reach and quality of sports initiatives but also strengthens the ties between Albania and Europe.

In essence, EGSID is a transformative project with a vision of a healthier, more inclusive society. By making sports accessible to all—especially those who are often marginalized—it aims to improve individual well-being and weave a stronger, more inclusive social fabric. EGSID demonstrates the far-reaching impact of sports as a unifying force, inspiring a community where every individual has a place on the field and in society.

EGSID is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and will be implemented in Albania, Bulgaria, and Spain in a period of 24 months.
