EGSID

First meeting under the EGSID project in Albania
27.11.2024
The first meeting under the Empowering Grassroots Sport for Inclusion and Development – EGSID project took place in Tirana, Albania, in the period 24-27 November 2024. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Bulgarian sports development association (BDSA), which is the Bulgarian partner of the project, together with representatives of organizations from Albania and Spain.
During the meeting the main objectives, activities and expected results of the project, which aims to use sport as a tool for social change and inclusion, were discussed. Participants explored strategies to support local sports organizations by providing training, resources and best practices to make them more effective and sustainable.

Particular emphasis was placed on creating conditions for active inclusion in sporting activities of marginalized groups, promoting equality and human rights, and building social cohesion in communities.

The partners committed to work together in the spirit of European values, such as tolerance and mutual respect, and to create sustainable models for grassroots sport development. The international nature of the project provides an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience between the participating countries and strengthens cooperation between Albania and the European Union.

The EGSID project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and is going to be implemented within 24 months in Albania, Bulgaria and Spain. Its vision is to build a healthier and more inclusive society through access to sport for all, especially for those who are disadvantaged.

The project has the potential to be an example of how sport can inspire social change, bridge differences and strengthen bonds between people.
