International meeting under the EGSID project

29.03.2025
In the period March 26–29, 2025, an international partner meeting took place in Sofia as part of the "Empowering Grassroots Sport for Inclusion and Development" (EGSID) project – an inspiring initiative aimed at leveraging the power of sport for social change and inclusion. The event was organized by the Bulgarian sports development association (BSDA) and took place in the heart of the capital city.
The EGSID project, co-funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ programme, is being implemented in Albania, Bulgaria, and Spain. Its goal is to strengthen the capacity of local sports organizations, making them more inclusive, sustainable, and effective. Through trainings, the exchange of best practices, and networking, the initiative positions sport as a driver for health, equality, and the inclusion of vulnerable social groups.
During the two-day working meeting, the partners discussed the results achieved so far and outlined future steps for the project. Key work packages presented included:
• Project management and coordination;
• Needs analysis and stakeholder engagement;
• Strategies for communication, dissemination, and sustainability of results.
The event featured practical workshops and thematic discussions focused on improving collaboration between partners and increasing the project's visibility at both local and European level. The program concluded with the planning of specific steps for the next project activities, including setting deadlines, planning future events, and defining expected outcomes.
The EGSID project places sport at the center of social change – a tool to overcome social disparities and build more cohesive and just communities. For BSDA, this partnership represents another step in their mission to use sport as a means for development and solidarity.
