ParaEMPOWER

First international meeting of the ParaEMPOWER project in Zagreb
28.02.2025
From February 25-28, 2025, the city of Zagreb, Croatia, hosted the first international meeting of the ParaEMPOWER project—an initiative co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. The project aims to enhance the quality of training and preparation for coaches in the field of parasports, as well as to expand the capacity of sports organizations to operate on a transnational and cross-sectoral level.
The meeting brought together representatives from the partner countries—Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, and Serbia—who discussed key aspects of the project, including training methodology, the development of educational resources, and strategies for raising awareness about the importance of parasports as a tool for social integration.

During the meeting, the concept of the ParaEMPOWER project was presented, and the partners reviewed the expected outcomes to be achieved within the 36-month implementation period. Special attention was given to the distribution of roles and responsibilities among all partners, as well as strategies for collecting and analyzing best practices in the field of para sports. A crucial part of the discussions involved defining key indicators to measure the project’s impact, ensuring effective monitoring of progress and results. In this context, the development of an innovative online platform was also discussed. This platform will provide specialized training for para sports coaches and serve as a primary resource for knowledge exchange and best practices.

In conclusion, participants outlined the next steps, with a key priority being the organization of training sessions, international events, and expert meetings. These initiatives will contribute to refining coaching methods and management practices in parasports, fostering greater inclusion and professional development within the sector.

The ParaEMPOWER project is dedicated to breaking stereotypes and social barriers that often limit people with disabilities in sports and society. Through the creation of innovative training materials, an online platform, and international expert meetings, the project will offer sustainable solutions for improving the preparation of parasports coaches and sports operators. Following the successful completion of the first meeting, partners will focus on conducting research and developing training video materials that will be integrated into the ParaEMPOWER platform. Additionally, over the next three years, international training programs, national seminars, and expert meetings will be organized to support the development of better managerial and pedagogical practices in parasports.

ParaEMPOWER is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and will be implemented over a 36-month period in Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, and Serbia.
