SWIM: Swim Without Fear

DARKO TEAM BABY CUP ADAPTED START – VOLUME 3
30.04.2023
500 children competed at the Vasil Levski Stadium on April 30, 2023 as part of the Darko Team Baby Cup – Volume 3. The competition was for children aged 4 to 13 and open to all comers – regardless whether they are carded athletes, members of a sports club or wanted to take their first steps in athletics.
Athletes competed in 50 and 60 meters and were divided into ten age groups. Participants competed only with children born in the same year, and the competition was open to everyone – regardless whether they had sports experience or were members of a club. All successful finishers received a medal as a token of respect for their efforts, and the fastest were awarded with gifts from the tournament’s partners.

Sport has the power to include and this was confirmed during the Darko Team Baby Cup – for the second time athletes of three adapted sports clubs took part in the event: SC "Adapted Sports", SC "BG and Sport for All" and SC " Sport, SEN, Sambo for Development". The adapted starts were in the 60m discipline and the participants performed brilliantly in their second participation in the tournament, which was under the motto Train4Inclusive – an European initiative for inclusive sport supported by the EU's Erasmus+ programme.

Participants:
SC "Adapted Sports": Kristina Dimova, Ioannis Archontis, Rosen Varadinov, Plamen Shalamanov, Victor Ivanov, Nikolay Iliev
SC "BG and sport for all": Petar Petrovaliev, Ivaylo Kitsin, Gabriela Velinova, Alexander Vutkov, Alexander Tsvetanov
SC "Sport, SEN, Sambo for Development": Nikola Tomov, Mario Apostolov, Boris Kurlev, Radoslav Petkov, Viktor Genov, Yuri Stoyanov, Kubrat Bogdanov

The event is organized by the Sofia "Darko Team" school, which is profiled in elementary training in athletics, with the help of the Bulgarian Athletics Federation. The main partner of the event is the household electrical appliance company Cosori. The competition is also supported by Decathlon Bulgaria, the leading company for staff selection in Bulgaria Easy Consult and Bulgarian sports development association. During the competition, BSDA presented to the young participants the augmented reality #SWIM, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme – a free experience that shows the pleasure of water sports and through this positive adventure – reduces fear of water in early childhood development.
