On December 18, 2020, in the renovated pool "Madara" of the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" was held a control training in adapted swimming, which included 12 athletes with intellectual disabilities. The sports activity was held in compliance with all anti-epidemic measures, and the public and persons under 18 years of age were not allowed. The training was organized by experts in the sector of "Adapted Physical Activity and Sports" at NSA "Vasil Levski" and the Bulgarian Sports Development Association.

"SPORT & NFE - A pathway to community development" is a project that seeks to identify and overcome obstacles and challenges related to e stagnating tendency of lack of participation in, equal access to sport for all, as well about the stagnating interest in the importance of health-enhancing physical activity in Europe. The duration of the project is 24 months, and it involves 7 partner organizations from six European countries - Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Spain.

“Multisport community experience” is a social-innovation sport project based on collective “movement” competition. The duration of the project is a 36 months with a consortium of 6 partners from 6 different countries – Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy and Croatia. This project aims at activating a new user experience, new sense of belonging, new emotions, new relationship and healthy competition and a compelling motivation for a physically active and healthy living. The game is based on competing communities. Each community has a team of 500 participants who track their physical activity. A system collects all data and update the real time cumulative “Healthy Index” at city level and compares it with the value of the other competing community.

On 18th of November 2020 the consortium of #Back2Track project has gathered in online environment for the final project meeting. The get-together was originally planned to be held in Rijeka, Croatia, but due to the COVID-19 was implemented through online platform. At the final project meeting has been adopted the Toolkit with practical guidance “Grassroots programme for professional sport clubs” that is available for sport organizations on the project webpage www.back2track.net and can be used as source of inspiration for sport entities to deliver grassroots activities for kids and youngsters.

On October 23, 2020, at the invitation of Zlatka Atanasova – a philosophy teacher and in compliance with anti-epidemic measures, the Bulgarian sports development association introduced to the 12th grade students from the 57 School "St. Naum Ohridski” the policies of the European Union in the field of sports. The students got acquainted with the basic regulations in the sector, the importance and priorities of sport, the activities implemented so far after creating the prerequisites for a common European sports policy, as well as future ones planned in the next Multiannual Financial Framework of the Union 2021 – 2027. The opportunities that the Erasmus+ Program opens up for future sports professionals and the challenges that the sports sector faces such as: the fight against doping and sports results manipulation, the prevention of corruption and the promotion of good governance, were also presented.

The European Week of Sport #BeActive was held for the sixth consecutive year and between 23 and 30 September 2020 all residents and guests of Sofia had the opportunity to become part of the largest sports event in Europe. European Week of Sport is an initiative of the European Commission, which is held each September throughout Europe since 2015. The week, which takes the form of an awareness raising campaign, promotes the multiple benefits of sports and physical activity and everyone can participate, regardless of age, background or physical condition.

In the period 31/08 - 06/09/2020, a camp for adapted water sports was held at VSUB Nessebar, which aimed to promote activities in the field of adaptation of water sports for people with different types of disabilities and special needs. The main sports in which the participants are involved are sailing, kayaking and swimming, and in addition all participants had fun practicing the modern paddleboarding, as well as a hike activities within the project #HikeTogether.

On 19th of August 2020, #BeActive day was held at the Monastery "St. Ivan Rilski” in German, Bulgaria, organized in partnership with the Sunday School at the “Nativity of Christ" Temple, Sofia, Mladost 3, the Association of Bulgarians suffering from asthma (ABBA) and the Bulgarian sports development association. Over 30 children had the opportunity to have fun, study together and enjoy wonderful summer emotions, many sports and educational activities. Hieromonk Pimen, responsible for the monastery expressed his support for this type of activity, which started in the German monastery three years ago and has become a wonderful tradition: "It is inherent in man to develop his physical abilities in childhood so that he can have proper development as an individuals."

Sport is the most popular recreational activity, for centuries being an important element of society. Entrepreneurship has also been embedded in societies for ages, helping people to grow socially and economically. Europe is investing heavily in Entrepreneurship Education (EE) to sustain economic growth and social inclusion. The EU also recognizes the need to reinvent how entrepreneurship is identified, taught and nurtured. Links between sports & entrepreneurship are manifold, yet seldom recognized and rarely capitalized upon. The two are rarely found together in VET as effectively connected domains with synergic links: hence the need for much-needed entrepreneurial competences due to low EE in sports-oriented disciplines and lack of tailored entrepreneurship training.

SPORTolerance project aims to contribute to further human capacity development in sport through development of set of mobilities for sport coaches that will include both educational modules and modules for exchange of good practices in the field of using sport for prevention of radicalization and building tolerance and solidarity. Project will use and further develop in the field of tolerance and solidarity the non-formal educational methodology Education Through Sport /ETS/ that is an illustration of using sport as learning tool and thereby taking steps to stretch sport beyond the activity itself.

On August 1, 2020 at the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" was held athletics tournament "New Stars". The 42nd edition of the international tournament included in its program a 100-meter inclusive start, which was attended by 12 athletes with intellectual disabilities. The inclusion of integrated starts in sporting events with proven traditions is extremely important support for people with disabilities and their full integration. The example of the organizers of the New Stars tournament has become a sustainable successful practice in the last few years. The participants were awarded by Prof. Marin Gadev - Head of the Department of Athletics at NSA "Vasil Levski", and after the award they had the opportunity to share a photo with one of their sports idols – the European, World and Olympic champion Tereza Marinova.

On 18th of July 2020, in northern Uganda in Gulu city, small sub-county called (Aswa) in Uganda and in Ogun state, Nigeria was implemented a #HikeTogether event. The event was organized by Rubangakene Quido, program manager of International Movement for African Children /IMAC/. Project “Hike together” contributes to raising awareness of the importance of health benefits of physical activity through walking in nature – as a natural exercise through increased participation in hiking and trekking. Project “Hike together” is focused on young people from disadvantage background, to promote hiking and walking in the nature is a basic to many sporting activities, wellbeing and fitness. Hike together encourage social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport.

#BeActive weekend was held in Klisura Monastery “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” in the period between 11-12 July, organized in partnership by the leadership of the monastery Archimandrite Antim, Sunday School at the Church of the Nativity in Mladost 3, the Association of Bulgarians with Asthma, Allergy and COPD (ABBA) and the Bulgarian Sports Development Association. On July 3, 2020, the Bulgarian Sports Development Association joined Familatlon 2020 with an online session Corrective Gymnastics for Children and Parents, conducted by Class 4 Your Back - Gymnastics for proper posture with Iva (https://www.facebook.com/ Class4YourBack /), within Familatlon Online. During the session was presented Sport Diplomacy Academy project - a legacy of recent First Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU 2018 and will focus on Western Balkans lot as a logical follow up of all implemented #EU2018BG. Main activities: prioritizing the EU perspective and connectivity of the WB, referring to the SofiaDeclaration and Sofia Priority Agenda. Both #EU and WB partners should continue to invest efforts in strengthening the cooperation and good practices exchange, focused on democracy, security and fundamental rights. Project will ensure the educational mobility of coaches and other staff of sport organisations (incl. volunteers) linked to professional and grassroots sport. The 4 modules of mobility, held in each one of the partners countries with the same group of participants from the project target group will improve their competences as well as their qualifications and acquire new skills through learning mobility and spending a period of time in a foreign country (in and outside of the EU). Learning mobility will be an investment in human capital and a contribution to the capacity building of sport organisations with clear focus on building a network of well-trained sport diplomats.

The surge in intolerance, stereotyping and discrimination against migrants and refugees represents one of the most glaring realities influencing political and civil society debate, particularly in the European polities most sensibly hit by the massive migrants and refugee flows from Africa and the Middle Eastern region. Eurostat quantifies in 164.300 the number of extra-EU nationals who sought asylum in the EU-28 during the third quarter of 2017.

In the period 18 – 25 of June 2020 during the annual practical summer camp for students in National Sports Academy “Vassil Levski” the students in master degree Adapted physical activity and sport was introduced to the #SPORTolerance project and through interactive and non-formal activities sport experts got deeper knowledge on tolerance and solidarity through sport. More than 30 coaches in different sports was empowered to use non-formal activities and the methodology Education through sport /ETS/ to ensure that the European values are transmitted to the target groups they work with through sport sessions.

Sport is ambition, emotion and inspiration, initiated by people for people and is based on personal beliefs about integrity, dedication and fairness, as well as the principles of "fair play", teamwork, discipline, equal start and non-discrimination. Sport is a great way to prevent many of the problems in our society such as social exclusion, violence, crime and addiction. This is the belief of the Bulgarian Sports Development Association, which has been operating for 10 years, organizing many events that inspire citizens to #BeActive, creating and implementing a large number of international trainings and events.
