FINAL CONFERENCE HEPA SUN WAS HELD IN CROATIA

In the period 01.12 – 03.12.2022, the final conference and the final meeting of the “Sports, health and fUn for preschool childreN/SUN” project was held in the town of Samobor, Croatia. Each partner country in the consortium presented the educational sports activities carried out with the preschool children and kindergarten teachers at the national level, and the achieved results were also discussed. Kalinka Gudarovska – board member of BSDA, Diana Hadjiangelova and Velina Andonova – coordinators of health policies and social activities in BSDA took part in the meeting on behalf of Bulgarian sports development association.
The project aims to support the reduction of overweight and obesity in children and young people (0-18 years), by implementing eight key practices defined in the EU action plan on childhood obesity for 2014-2020:
• Support a healthy start in life;
• Promote healthier environments, especially in schools and pre-schools;
• Make the healthy option the easier option;
• Information and training;
• Promotion of physical activity;
• Monitoring and evaluation;
• More effective measures against mass obesity.

EXPECTED RESULTS FROM THE “SPORTS, HEALTH AND FUN FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN/SUN” PROJECT ARE:
• Minimum of 600 preschool children involved in Pilot programme (100 per project country);
• Minimum 120 kindergarten teachers (20 per country), educated on PA methodology implementation for preschool children;
• Parents, guardians and family members actively participating in recreational sport activities with preschool children and educated on healthy nutrition;
• Parents familiar with healthy nutrition and a healthy lifestyle;
• At least 20 trained kindergarten teachers in each project country, who gained practical experience;
• Increased awareness of children, families and kindergarten teachers, regarding the benefits of physical activity and healthy nutrition;
• Children of preschool age to acquire the habit of regular sports and physical activity and healthy nutrition.
