Beyond Barriers

On 9 February 2026, the Erasmus+ Sport project Beyond Barriers: Making Inclusive Sports Visible officially began with an international kick-off meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, hosted by AETOI Thessalonikis. The meeting marked the start of a European initiative aimed at strengthening the visibility, communication capacity, and inclusion efforts of sport organisations working with people with disabilities. The project is coordinated by Bulgarian Sports Development Association (BSDA) and is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. Representatives of both partner organisations met in person to align on the strategic vision, implementation framework, and expected impact of the project.

The Bulgarian Sports Development Association (BSDA) took part in the official Erasmus+ Sport – Kick-off Meeting 2025, held online on 27 November 2025. The event gathered all newly selected beneficiaries under the Erasmus+ Sport programme for the 2025 cycle and provided detailed guidance on administrative, financial, and operational procedures that organizations must follow throughout their upcoming project implementations.

The Beyond Barriers project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, aims to strengthen the capacity, visibility, and inclusion of sport organizations working with people with disabilities. It recognizes that despite progress in recent years, disability sport in Europe still faces limited visibility, lack of media representation, scarce access to digital tools, and minimal sponsorship support. By improving how these organizations communicate, promote, and position themselves, Beyond Barriers seeks to increase participation, awareness, and long-term sustainability in inclusive sport.
