BULGARIANS TOOK PART IN AN INTERNATIONAL SPORTS EVENT SPORT4CANCER

Bulgarian sports development association took part in the international "Sport4Cancer – Mar Menor Games" event, organized by the University of Murcia (Spain) and the Union of Sports Federations of the Region of Murcia, with a team of 10 representatives with oncological diseases. Sport4Cancer included more than 120 sports activities and was held in the period 20-23 April 2023 in the towns of Cartagena, San Javier, San Pedro and Los Alcazares. The event was saturated with competitions, exhibitions and free sports activities for all spectators and guests. Project "Sport4Cancer" is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and 12 European partner organizations from Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Turkey, France, Croatia and Lithuania participate in it.
The event was planned as an activity dedicated to strengthening social and solidarity interest, to raise funds for the Spanish Cancer Association, to promote the activities of the Never Surrender Foundation, which promotes weight trainings among cancer patients in order to improve their quality of life, as well as for the Aladina Foundation. Some of the representatives in the Bulgarian group are also active in their daily life, as the ladies participate in the dance therapy for women with breast cancer "Dance with health" in the town of Dobrich, which the "Alegria" club has been holding for several years.

120 SPORTS ACTIVITIES

The program has been developed with more than 120 sea, water and beach activities for all ages with themed exhibitions, competitions and open training so that attendees can participate in every sport on offer.

Among the sporting activities with a charitable purpose was the "Solidarity" competition and the "Solidarity Walk" of 5 km and 10 km, with the aim of raising 20,000 euros for the Spanish Cancer Association. In addition, the Never Surrender Foundation received the donations collected during the events involving power sports and the Aladina Foundation benefited from the proceeds of other sports activities such as karting, triathlon and beach volleyball.

10 000 PARTICIPANTS + 30 000 SPECTATORS

The event was attended by over ten thousand people who took part in all sports activities and more than 30 000 spectators and visitors.

The "Sport4Cancer – Mar Menor Games" sports event was held with the help and participation of more than 150 volunteers from different countries and the financial and material support of leading companies in the sports sector, such as Instituto Universae, El Pozo Alimentación, Opel Marcos Automoción, CAR Región de Murcia and others.
