04.05.2023
On May 4, 2023, Bulgarian sports development association held a dissemination event under the "Sport for Every Child: Fit Kids" project. The event was attended by more than 30 athletes with special educational needs who tried and tested the FIT KIDS training program, having the opportunity to discuss, exchange opinions, ideas and impressions. The training program helps children build self-confidence, improve their social skills and learn to work in a team. In this way, they cope better with stress and feel more confident in themselves in different situations. For children who suffer from various types of disorders such as autism, dyslexia or dyspepsia, such training programs can be extremely beneficial, enabling them to better cope with their challenges and develop in all aspects of life.
The initiative promotes social inclusion and equal opportunities, and its main goal is to develop a methodology for physical education using sports activities, sports games and exercises for children and young people with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities. The project team is focused on the groups that have to overcome more challenges in the inclusion in sports activities, games and exercises.

The developed methods are suitable for children with ADHD, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma and stress-related disorders, destructive and impulsive behavior, depressive disorders, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, autism and low cognitive ability. The modular approach meets the needs of the individuals involved in the project and is structured to be used by teachers and parents of children with special needs.

"Fit Kids" project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and is a collaborative partnership of 7 countries – Bulgaria, Slovenia, Italy, Romania, Sweden, Serbia and Turkey.
