ARBS is coordinator of the PE sector in the CDCPICS at Bulgarian Parliament

Following an open selection procedure for members of the Public Council to the Commission for Direct Citizen Participation and Interaction with Civil Society in the Forty-Ninth National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Sports Development Association will serve as the primary representative in the field of competence 'Physical Education and Sport.' In the work of the Public Council, BSDA will be represented by Yoanna Dochevska and Associate Prof Stefka Djobova, Board members of the organization.

Тhe Commission for Direct Citizen Participation and Interaction with Civil Society is a permanent parliamentary committee that engages in dialogue with representatives of non-governmental organizations and reviews citizens' complaints, signals, and suggestions. The Commission conducts a dialogue and interaction with representatives of non-governmental organizations, including organizing public discussions on matters of significant public interest; it conducts parliamentary and civic monitoring of the activities of state regulatory bodies through public discussions, and the conclusions of these discussions are forwarded to the leading committees. Within its competence, the Commission also deals with proposals for referendums and citizen initiatives according to the Law on Direct Citizen Participation in State Authorities and Local Self-Government, as well as petitions under Article 45 of the Constitution. CDCPICS is responsible as well for citizens' complaints, signals, and suggestions.

On September 21, 2023, the first meeting of the Public Council was held, which proceeded with the following agenda:
1. Nomination of the Chairperson of the Public Council
2. Election of Deputy Chairpersons of the Public Council
3. Adoption of work procedures
4. Discussion on setting priorities within the autumn session for 2023 of the 49th National Assembly.
