Sports games and egg painting on Sveta Nedelya Square

On May 2, 2024 – the Holy Thursday, from 11:00. until 12:30 the traditional painting of Easter eggs and sports games took place on Sveta Nedelya Square and was attended by children from the capital's kindergartens. At 12:30 a festive procession started with children carrying icons and baskets of painted eggs, led by clergymen of the Sofia Holy Metropolis. The host of the event was Nadezhda Panayotova, the Bulgarian voice of one of the favorite Disney cartoon characters – Elsa.
The event is also part of the cultural program of Sofia Municipality, it is supported by the local administration and is organized by the Sofia Holy Metropolis, the Sunday School at the Church of the Nativity, the Sunday School at the Church of St. Martyr Paraskeva, Association of Bulgarians with Asthma, Allergy and COPD, Bulgarian sports development association (BSDA) and Theater Company “Empty Space”. Darko Team Athletics School contributed to the sports smiles, which besides with the sports specialists, joined in with an attractive mascot that delighted the children – the Darko wasp.
During the event, the children were also introduced to the activities of the "SCAED – Sport Community Against Eating Disorders" initiative, which has specific objectives aimed at combating eating disorders in amateur sport. These goals include reducing the causes of eating disorders in amateur sport, educating coaches and parents on the knowledge needed to combat eating disorders in amateur sport, as well as increasing the knowledge regarding eating disorders in amateur sport. The SCAED project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
