On May 28, 2025, a round table was held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports building as part of the “Safer Grassroots Sport” project, with the participation of experts, representatives of sports clubs and federations, as well as organizations working in the field of youth and sports. On behalf of Bulgarian sports development association, Ivaylo Zdravkov – security and safety expert – actively participated in the event, evaluating the potential of new digital tools for assessing and improving safety and security in the sports environment.
During the event, innovative technologies aimed at preventing risks in amateur and grassroots sports were demonstrated, including the digital tools “THE SAFE SPORT SELF-ASSESSMENT TOOL” and “SAFE SPORT DIGITAL TOOLKIT” for risk assessment and analysis in sports organizations, as well as digital protocols for action in crisis situations.
The aim of the project is to build sustainable capacity in sports organizations for the effective implementation of measures to protect participants – especially children, youth, and vulnerable groups – from all forms of violence, harassment, or exploitation in the context of sport.
The “Safer Grassroots Sport” project is part of a Europe-wide initiative to promote a culture of safety, inclusion, and respect in sports, with particular attention paid to local clubs and community sports structures. Bulgarian sports development association expresses its commitment to building a safer sports environment and will continue to work closely with partners and institutions to implement good practices and innovative solutions in the field of sports security.
