Sliven trains TOGETHER!

On October 18, 2025, in “Yunak” Park, in front of the “Stanka Zlateva” sports hall in the town of Sliven, an inspiring sports festival took place under the motto “Sliven trains TOGETHER.” The event brought together dozens of children, young people, parents, coaches, and people with special needs for a day dedicated to movement, acceptance, and the shared joy of sports.
The initiative was organized by “The Brave Dolphins” from the “Sliven–2002” Swimming Club, led by coach and motivator Veselina Kazakova, with the support of the Municipality of Sliven, the National Sports Academy “Vasil Levski,” and local sports clubs.

Some of the brightest names in Bulgarian sports were qmong the official guests and participants:
• Ruzhdi Ruzhdi – two-time Paralympic champion and world record holder in shot put;
• Emona Ivanova – silver medalist at the 2024 European Para-Badminton Championship in Istanbul;
• Stanka Zlateva – two-time Olympic silver medalist, five-time world, and six-time European wrestling champion;
as well as lecturers from the National Sports Academy – Assoc. Prof. Stefka Dzhobova and Assoc. Prof. Vili Aleksandrova, and Yoanna Dochevska – Chairperson of the Bulgarian sports development association.

The agenda included an official opening with greetings from the guests, demonstrations of wrestling, judo, and acrobatics, along with various sports stations for badminton, basketball, table tennis, boxing, football, sitting volleyball, and parkour. Children and young people took an active part, supported by their parents and students from the Master’s Program in “Adapted Physical Activity and Sport” at the National Sports Academy.

After an energetic morning, participants visited the “St. Petka” church, where the event concluded with a shared prayer of gratitude and a message of unity and togetherness.

The “Sliven trains TOGETHER” event proved that sport is for everyone – regardless of age, ability, or differences. The day left behind smiles, friendships, and a shared belief that TOGETHER we can achieve more.
