Bulgarian sports development association to take part in the Fiesta del Deporte: iSportFest 2026, the European festival promoting inclusion through sport

Bulgarian sports development association (BSDA) will take part in the Festival of Sport: iSportFest 2026 (ID101245372), a European initiative co-funded by the European Union and coordinated by the University of Murcia (Spain) that will bring together institutions and organisations from the sport, education and social sectors to promote physical activity, broaden access to sport and strengthen social inclusion in urban and coastal communities.
BSDA will contribute the expertise it has developed in Bulgaria and collaborate on the preparation, communication and international promotion of the event. Its involvement will also foster knowledge exchange and the transfer of good practices among the participating organisations.
A multi-sport programme open to everyone
Fiesta del Deporte: iSportFest will take place from 23 to 25 October 2026 in Murcia and Cartagena, Spain. This event, co-funded by the European Union, will run for three days and feature more than 70 activities in sport, recreation and related fields, including urban, aquatic, nautical and beach sports held at sports facilities and in urban spaces.
The activities will cater for people of all ages and experience levels. They will be open to the public and organised according to principles of accessibility, equal opportunities and meaningful participation. Particular attention will be given to people with disabilities and those experiencing social exclusion, including people facing economic, social or cultural barriers to taking part in sport.
The sports programme will also include educational, scientific, cultural and environmental activities delivered through practical and interactive workshops. All activities and workshops will be managed using digital tools and engagement techniques that incorporate gamification to enhance the experience of everyone taking part in the Fiesta del Deporte: iSportFest.
A European network with an impact beyond the event
The contribution of BSDA will extend beyond its participation in Spain. The organisation will help connect iSportFest with sport and social-sector stakeholders in Bulgaria, share updates on the project's progress and subsequently communicate its main results and lessons learned to its community.
The network associated with the Fiesta del Deporte: iSportFest includes organisations from 13 European countries: Spain, Italy, Croatia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Cyprus, Portugal, Hungary, Greece, Slovenia and Austria. This geographical diversity will bring together experiences from a range of sporting, educational and social contexts around a shared goal: using sport as a tool for inclusion and cooperation.
Work will continue after the event in Murcia and Cartagena through the evaluation of results, the dissemination of good practices in a white paper and the development of initiatives that can be adapted to other European regions. In this way, Fiesta del Deporte: iSportFest aims to create a legacy that extends beyond the festival itself and inspires new inclusive sport initiatives.
