OR. with SNORKELING

International meeting under the Or. With Snorkeling project was held in North Macedonia
06.04.2024
In the period 3-6.04.2024, in Struga, North Macedonia, an international partner meeting under the OR. with SNORKELING project took place. The project focuses on orienteering and scuba diving activities in a shallow marine environment, pools and lakes with the aim to reunite children with physical disabilities with their peers without disabilities. During the meeting, future practical trainings were discussed, as well as methods for producing adapted orienteering maps. Through such innovative tools and practices, we hope to create a more inclusive environment and make children physically active.
At the end of the training, each partner will create their own orientation maps to use when navigating in a shallow marine environment, pool or lake. These created maps will be used by 6 children with physical disabilities and 6 children without disabilities who will participate in the competitions as pairs (1 child with disability – 1 without disability in the water), and these underwater orienteering competitions will be implemented by each partner.

At the end of the project, an international underwater orienteering event will be organized to present the maps and project activities, which will have a great impact on the inclusion of children with disabilities in social life with their peers and stimulate children to be physically active. In addition, the implementation of activities in a shallow marine environment, a swimming pool and a lake will draw attention to the project in the community and can be implemented in a diverse environment.

Within the framework of the project, an analysis of the needs of children with physical disabilities and those in norm for inclusion in this type of activities is planned through a short questionnaire for each of the target groups.

OR. with SNORKELING is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and will be implemented by an international consortium from Bulgaria, Turkey and the Republic of North Macedonia.
