Ramps4Champs

The final Ramps4Champs meeting took place in Thessaloniki
12.12.2023
From December 11th to 12th, 2023, the final meeting of the Ramps4Champs project partners was held in Thessaloniki, Greece. The partnership meeting was accompanied by a conference attended by participants from Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Serbia, and North Macedonia. They had the opportunity to discuss practical and theoretical tools for socialization and social integration through Boccia for people with disabilities.
The main outcome of the Ramps4Champs project is a guide for organizing safe and inclusive activities in Paralympic Boccia, for BC3 class, including both people with disabilities and their non-disabled peers. To achieve this, instructors and coaches will be trained to conduct activities for BC3 class Boccia, as well as to provide first aid and secondary care to people with disabilities.

Paralympic Boccia is a sport designed for athletes who need additional support. It is played individually, in pairs, or in teams of three indoors. In Boccia, the playing surface is also not significant. The goal of the game is to throw, roll, or kick the colored balls as close as possible to the white ball called the "Jack". The BC3 classification group includes athletes with significant impairments in hand and leg functions, such as tetraplegia and myopathy. The Ramps4Champs initiative is co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.
