C ZERO SPORT CLUBS
C ZERO SPORTS CLUB Local Conference
26.09.2024
On September 26, 2024, Bulgarian sports development association organized a local conference within the "Carbon Neutral Sports Club Network – C ZERO SPORTS CLUB" project. The event brought together representatives of sports clubs and public figures interested in the environmental challenges facing the sports sector. The main highlight of the conference was the presentation of the "Carbon Footprint Measurement Programme for Sports Organisations", created within the project. The programme aims to support sports clubs in understanding and measuring their environmental footprint, while providing concrete tools and guidance to reduce carbon emissions.
In addition to the programme, the results of the C ZERO SPORTS CLUBS survey, which analyses the level of awareness and readiness of sports clubs to implement sustainable practices, were presented and discussed. Discussions highlighted the importance for sports organisations to take active steps towards protecting the environment by implementing an eco-friendly management approach.
The “Carbon Neutral Sports Club Network – C ZERO SPORTS CLUB” project aims to encourage small sports clubs in Europe to understand the importance of their environmental impact and take action to reduce it. One of the key aspects of the project is the implementation of digital tools that will make it easier for clubs to manage their environmental activities and reduce their carbon footprint. The carbon footprint measurement programme will be piloted in a number of sports clubs and the results will form the basis for future activities and initiatives within the project.
The project highlights the importance of sports clubs not limiting themselves to sporting activities but contributing to society through eco-friendly initiatives. This will not only strengthen their relationship with local communities but also gain wider public support. Bulgarian sports development association urged all sports clubs to join the initiative and take their responsibility in the fight against climate change.
The “Carbon Neutral Sports Club Network – C ZERO SPORTS CLUB” project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission and is part of the European Union's efforts to promote sustainable development and combat climate change.
