European Week of Winter Sport

The European Week of Winter Sports continues with more winter challenges!

After the spectacular start of #BeActiveWinter, Bulgaria keeps the momentum going with a series of exciting and accessible winter events. The first pilot edition of the European Week of Winter Sports unites eight European countries in an initiative co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. Its mission is to promote an active lifestyle during the winter season and encourage sustainable sports practices.
February 3 – Snowball Games
At "Narodni Buditeli" 144 Secondary School, children from the Sunday School at the Church of the Nativity of Christ had a blast playing snowball games! Even without snow, the sporting spirit remained strong with alternative activities that encouraged coordination and teamwork.
February 4 – Winter Wonderland
In the yard of the 85 Kindergarten "Rodina," young children played alongside snowmen and sang winter songs, enjoying a magical winter atmosphere under falling snowflakes! The little ones embarked on an adventure aboard the "Winter Express," stopping at "Winter Wonderland" Station, where musical games and fun activities awaited them.
February 5 – Ice Hockey Training
At the Winter Sports Palace, the Red Star Sofia team hosted an open ice hockey training session that attracted enthusiasts of all ages! Participants experienced the speed and excitement of the sport, improving their skills under the guidance of professional coaches. The atmosphere was filled with energy, competitive spirit, and plenty of fun!
The pilot edition of the European Week of Winter Sports will continue until February 8, featuring a total of 10 events across four locations in Bulgaria. All activities are free and open to the public, aiming to encourage physical activity during winter and expand sports opportunities for all ages.

The first pilot edition will take place from February 1-8, 2025, in Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Luxembourg, Slovenia, and Spain.
