BSDA EVENTS AT EUROPEAN WEEK OF SPORT

The #BeActive European Week of Sport took place between September 23 and 30, 2023, with all residents and guests of Sofia having the opportunity to become part of the largest sports celebration in Europe. The European Week of Sport is an initiative of the European Commission, held in September throughout Europe since 2015. Through the week, conducted in the form of a campaign to promote physical activity, the numerous benefits of sports and physical activity are popularized, and everyone, regardless of age, origin, or physical condition, can participate in it.
The Bulgarian Sports Development Association traditionally actively participated in the campaign with information stands during the #BeActive Sports Village and #BeActiveNight in front of the National Palace of Culture on September 23rd and a sports event in South Park, "From Love for Sports - Let's Be Active in the Park," held on September 30, 2023.

On September 24, 2023, the BSDA team supported the organization of the "Sprint Cup" - a running competition for children aged 4 to 13. The race aimed to discover the fastest children and the future champions of Bulgaria and was organized at the Vasil Levski Stadium by the Darko Team Athletics Club.

On September 27, 2023, a sports festival took place in Zaimov Park with the participation of 120 children from 195 Kindergarten 'Bratya Mormarevi' and 100 Kindergarten Akad. Pencho Raykov. The event featured various sports games and activities, including relay races, sack jumping, and parachute games. The children's good mood was ensured by the Darko Team Athletics Club, which energized the kids with their mascot, Dарко the wasp, bringing many smiles to the children's faces.

On September 29, 2023, a sports festival for the youngest participants took place at 81st School 'Victor Hugo' in the Mladost district, where children from the local kindergartens in the area, as well as 1st and 2nd-grade students from the school, had fun as part of the European Week of Sport. The event featured various sports games, including relay races, sack jumping, and parachute games. The Darko Team Athletics Club created a pleasant atmosphere and entertainment with the help of their mascot, Darko, who participated in sports activities alongside the little ones.

During the events within the European Week of Sport, BSDA presented its current initiatives co-funded by the Erasmus+ program:
• Multisport community experience - an innovative mobile application where teams from different countries can compete online, available for free download under the name MCE Project.
• Youth Workers Academy 2.0 - an initiative supporting youth organizations in developing their institutions, with a focus on online tools, finances, and marketing.
• CHEER - the CHEER initiative aims to improve the mental health of young people by stimulating their creativity and harnessing their youth enthusiasm.
• P.E.rfect - a project that supports the effective inclusion of children with autism spectrum disorders in the educational system.
• #SMILE - an initiative that promotes the sustainable inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in sports activities at the local, national, and international levels.
• #SWIM - Swim Without Fear, aimed at overcoming hydrophobia in an innovative way by developing a best practices manual useful for both parents and swimming organizations.
• "Strong Mind for Success," which builds the capacity of modern sports organizations in the field of mental health care and awareness for young athletes.
• #EmpowerSport - a program for the development of sports experts, providing opportunities for exchanging experiences in different countries to acquire new theoretical and practical skills.

The organization of the mentioned events actively involved the Sunday School at the church "Rozhdestvo Hristovo," the Sunday School at the church "St. Paraskeva," the Association of Bulgarians with Allergic and Respiratory Diseases, the Theatrical Company "Praznoto Prostranstvo," as well as numerous volunteers from the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" and 203 Language School "Sveti Metodiy."

The National Coordinator for the European Week of Sport in Bulgaria is the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the campaign is co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.
