International inclusive sports camp #InSport held in Turkey
29.08.2026
From 26 to 29 August 2026, the international #InSport camp – Inclusive Sports for All: Enhancing Social Integration and Coach Capacity through Adaptive Sports – took place in Sakarya, Turkey, bringing together 100 young people with and without intellectual disabilities: 80 from Turkey and 20 from Bulgaria. With the support of the Erasmus+ programme, participants took part in inclusive sports activities, team-building sessions and intercultural exchange.
At the heart of #InSport is the idea that sport creates a natural environment where people with different abilities can come together, communicate and participate on equal terms. In Sakarya, this idea was put into practice through shared sports activities and experiences involving young people from both countries.

For the Bulgarian athletes, the camp was also an opportunity to travel abroad, take part in sports activities with peers from another country, meet athletes facing similar opportunities and challenges, and build new friendships. International experiences like these offer not only new connections, but also greater confidence, independence and a stronger sense of belonging – turning inclusion from an idea into a real-life experience.

At #InSport 2026, Bulgaria was represented by athletes from the SC Adapted Sports in Sofia, the Parallel World Association in Plovdiv, the Golden Team Athletics Sports School in Svishtov, and the Vocational High School of Transport in Sofia. Teachers and students from the Adapted Physical Activity and Sport programme at the National Sports Academy “Vassil Levski” also took part in delivering the activities.

The international #InSport experience will continue in 2027, when Bulgaria will host the next edition of the inclusive sports camp, building on the connections established and the experience gained through the activities in Turkey.
