30.10.2025
On October 30, 2025, the final conference of the “Safer Grassroots Sport” (GRASS) project, which is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, was held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The event brought together representatives of national sports federations, sports clubs, and institutions engaged in promoting a safe and secure sporting environment.
Bulgarian sports development association (BSDA) took an active part in the conference, presenting several of its own initiatives as good practices in the field of safe sport policies and the implementation of recommendations from the Digital Safe Sport Handbook. The organization was represented by Ivaylo Zdravkov, Board member of BSDA and sport security expert, who emphasized the importance of sustainable policies and interinstitutional cooperation in ensuring a safe sports environment for all participants.
Among the good practices presented were also the Erasmus+ co-funded projects RISE – Rise Empowered Above Sexual Violence in Sports, which unites organizations from six European countries in the fight against sexual violence in sport, and SAFE SPORT – Cybersecurity for Women Athletes, which aims to enhance digital safety and awareness among women athletes while promoting a safer online and sporting environment.
During the conference, the main results of the GRASS project were also presented – an online self-assessment tool and a Digital Safe Sport Handbook, both developed to support sports clubs and federations in improving their safety standards.
