The European Union champions the use of sports as a catalyst for social cohesion and inclusion, especially for individuals with disabilities. However, addressing the specific needs of people with severe disabilities, such as cerebral palsy or tetraplegia, requires specialized attention. These individuals often face significant barriers, including the need for tailored assistance, adaptive equipment, and accessible facilities to participate in sports.
In this context, Ramps4Champs 2.0 emerges as a transformative initiative, focusing on BC3, a Paralympic sport recognized by the International Paralympic Committee since 1984. While BC3 offers an opportunity for participation, its practice demands targeted training that goes beyond athletic skills to include psycho-social aspects of disability and sport.

Objectives of Ramps4Champs 2.0
This innovative project aims to promote BC3 as a tool for inclusion and empowerment, targeting children and adolescents with severe disabilities as well as able-bodied peers. The specific objectives include:
• Identifying Barriers: Uncover obstacles preventing schools and sports clubs from integrating BC3 into their regular activities;
• Innovative Teaching Methodologies: Equip schoolteachers, educators, coaches, and trainers with inclusive teaching strategies tailored to BC3;
• Promoting BC3 Participation: Engage young athletes of all abilities in practicing BC3;
• Raising Awareness: Demonstrate the positive effects of BC3 on social inclusion to stakeholders, policymakers, and the wider community.

Deliverables and Outcomes
The Ramps4Champs 2.0 project will deliver a comprehensive suite of resources and tools to drive its mission:
• Research Report: Identifying challenges and solutions for adopting BC3 in schools and clubs;
• Educational Format: Inclusive methodologies for teachers and coaches;
• Handbook: Guidelines for safe implementation of BC3 in educational settings;
• Inclusive Programs: Activities fostering interaction and collaboration among diverse participants;
• Video Tutorials: Practical guidance for building ramps and other BC3 equipment;
• Scientific Paper: Exploring the benefits of mixed BC3 teams and measuring the project’s impact on students;
• Policy Paper: Recommendations for stakeholders to support the adoption of BC3 and similar initiatives.

Building an Inclusive Sports Culture
Ramps4Champs 2.0 envisions a future where sports are truly inclusive, empowering individuals with severe disabilities to engage, compete, and thrive. By uniting schools, sports clubs, and policymakers, the project aims to break barriers and create sustainable, inclusive environments for BC3 and other adaptive sports.
