#SPORT Sports Day at Kremikovtsi Monastery

25.07.2025
On July 25, 2025, at the Kremikovtsi Monastery “St. George the Victorious,” a sports event took place as part of the summer camp held at the monastery, within the framework of the #SPORT project – Strengthening Potentials through Opportunities, Respect, and Team-spirit, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
As part of the annual children’s camp at Kremikovtsi Monastery, Bulgarian sports development association organized an unforgettable sports day filled with energy, fun, and meaningful lessons. The children had the chance to take part in various activities – from flag football, which brought lots of smiles, to target throwing, which sparked the competitive spirit in all the participants. After the active games, a workshop on values and virtues was held, where the young campers reflected on and shared what honesty, respect, teamwork, and empathy mean to them.
The aim of the day was not just physical activity, but also to promote sustainable inclusion through sport – the core mission of the SPORT project. The atmosphere was full of enthusiasm and mutual support, and the smiles on the children’s faces showed that when we come together – we can all achieve more!
The #SPORT project – Strengthening Potentials through Opportunities, Respect, and Team-spirit – is a joint initiative of Bulgarian sports development association and the Turkish organization Kargenc Club and is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. Its main goal is to promote inclusion in sports for people with intellectual disabilities through adapted activities that support socialization, personal development, and active participation. The project foresees the development of a practical handbook for coaches, inclusive sports camps in Bulgaria and Turkey, participation of over 150 people with intellectual disabilities, and the creation of a network for the sustainable development of inclusive sport. With a strong focus on the exchange of good practices, training of sports specialists, and active involvement of local communities, #SPORT stands out as an innovative model for social inclusion through sport at the European level.
