#SPORT sports day at Kremikovtsi Monastery
28.07.2026
On July 28th 2026, a special sports event was held at Kremikovtsi Monastery "Saint George" as part of the monastery's summer camp. The event was organized within the framework of the #SPORT – Strengthening Potentials through Opportunities, Respect, and Team-spirit project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. As part of the monastery's annual children's summer camp, Bulgarian sports development association (BSDA) organized an exciting sports day full of energy, fun, and meaningful learning experiences.
The children took part in a variety of activities, including flag football, which brought plenty of smiles, excitement, and positive emotions to everyone involved. Following the sports activities, the participants joined a workshop on values and virtues, where they reflected on what virtues mean to them and shared who they are grateful for in their lives.
The aim of the event was not only to encourage physical activity but also to promote sustainable inclusion through sport, which is at the heart of the #SPORT project. The day was filled with enthusiasm, teamwork, and mutual support, while the children's smiles were a clear reminder that when we come together, everyone can succeed.
The #SPORT – Strengthening Potentials through Opportunities, Respect, and Team-spirit project is a joint initiative of the Bulgarian sports development association (BSDA) and the Turkish organization Kargenc Club, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. Its main objective is to promote inclusive sport for people with intellectual disabilities through adapted activities that support social inclusion, personal development, and active participation. The project includes the development of a practical handbook for coaches, the organization of inclusive sports camps in Bulgaria and Türkiye, the participation of more than 150 people with intellectual disabilities, and the establishment of a network for the sustainable development of inclusive sport. With a strong emphasis on exchanging good practices, training sports professionals, and actively engaging local communities, #SPORT is establishing itself as an innovative European model for social inclusion through sport.
