International Meeting #Train4Family in Sicily
12.10.2024
The international meeting for the #Train4Family project took place on October 11-12, 2024, in Palermo, Italy, gathering representatives from several countries to discuss key topics and project progress. The meeting was attended by Joanna Dochevska and Stefka Dzhobova – representatives of Bulgarian sports development association, partner in the initiative from Bulgaria. The first day featured presentations of the Multinational Report and eLearning platform, which provide educational resources for families of children with disabilities and sports specialists.
The project aims to integrate children with disabilities into sports activities with their families, promoting physical activity and healthy nutrition as mechanisms for improving quality of life and social inclusion.

Through participation in sports such as swimming and athletics, children with disabilities aged 6 to 18 can actively engage in social life alongside their parents and siblings. #Train4Family will offer training to families, led by qualified coaches, providing methods and tools for conducting sports activities tailored to children with various physical and intellectual disabilities. Creating a supportive and adapted sports environment is a key focus of the project.

The second day of the meeting included the signing of a Memorandum at the Sicilian Parliament, followed by discussions on creating a training manual and sports demonstration videos. The dissemination of project results was another important topic, with strategies discussed to broaden the project’s reach.

#Train4Family, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, is being implemented by an international consortium with partners from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Turkey, Italy, Slovenia, and Spain. Its goal is to improve conditions for the social integration of children with disabilities through sports and a healthy lifestyle.
