Integrated start during Darko Team Baby Cup
24.11.2024
More than 500 children participated in the first athletics competition of the season, held at the Asics Arena on the 24th of November. The sixth edition of the *Darko Team Baby Cup* brought together young athletes aged 4 to 13 in an innovative format with exercises from the "Kids Athletics" program and 50 and 60 meter sprints. All finishers received designer medals and a general warm-up before the races that reduced stress and created a pleasant atmosphere for participants, coaches and parents. The mascot, Darko Jr. the Wasp, supported the children and added to the spirit of the event.
The race started with 3 adapted 50m races, in which children with intellectual disabilities took part. The inclusion of integrated starts in sporting events with a proven tradition is an extremely important support for people with disabilities and their full integration. The good example of the organisers of the Darko Team Baby Cup has become a sustainable successful practice over the last few years.
The competitors were divided into several series, competing under the banner #Train4Family, a Bulgarian sports development association initiative, supported by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, which promotes the sustainable inclusion of people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities in sporting activities at local, national and international level. The international sports competition was attended by athletes from BG and Sport for All, SEN Sport Sambo for Development and SC Adapted Sports, as well as volunteers from the Adapted Physical Activity and Sport Sector at the Vasil Levski NSA.
