SAFE SPORT Training Course in Belgrade
08.03.2026
The SAFE SPORT – Cybersecurity for Women Athletes project successfully conducted a tailored training course from March 5-8, 2025, in Belgrade, Serbia. This impactful event brought together 12 participants from partner countries, focusing on enhancing digital safety for women athletes. The training session featured 12 trainers from consortium organizations, each equipped to deliver the newly developed cybersecurity toolkit. Participants gained essential skills to educate others, comprehensive knowledge of digital safety strategies, and effective methodologies to support trained educators.
In line with the toolkit’s development, a Training of Trainers (ToT) program followed, empowering a core group of trainers with expertise in both cybersecurity and resilience-building. These trainers will devise practical strategies to help young women protect their personal data, recognize cyber threats, and respond adeptly to online harassment. This initiative also aims to bolster their mental resilience and confidence in navigating digital challenges. Once trained, these professionals will implement follow-up activities in each participating country, ensuring the widespread dissemination of knowledge among young female athletes and sports educators.
SAFE SPORT is an Erasmus+ Sport co-funded initiative dedicated to addressing one of the most pressing challenges in the sports sector: the digital safety of women athletes. As cyberbullying, online harassment, identity theft, and digital exploitation increasingly impact young women in sports, this project seeks to equip athletes, coaches, and sports organizations with the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed for online safety. The partnership includes organizations from North Macedonia, Serbia, Estonia, and Bulgaria, combining expertise from both sports and technology fields.
What SAFE SPORT Will Achieve:
• A comprehensive Cybersecurity Toolkit to integrate digital safety education into sport-based learning;
• Training for coaches and educators to implement cybersecurity activities at the grassroots level;
• Socio-sport sessions for over 300 young women athletes to enhance their digital resilience;
• Awareness-raising initiatives promoting safer digital environments in sports settings.
These outputs will enable sports organizations to strengthen their capacity to recognize, prevent, and address online threats, while empowering young female athletes to navigate the digital landscape with confidence and security. By addressing critical threats and aligning with key EU policies - including the Directive on Combating Violence Against Women (2024) and the NIS2 Cybersecurity Directive - SAFE SPORT aims to establish digital well-being as a fundamental aspect of safe sports environments across Europe.
