On May 20, 2023, the "New Stars" athletics tournament was held at the "Vasil Levski" National Sports Academy. The tournament was organized at an extremely high level by the KLASA sports club and the director of the tournament – Assoc. prof. Plamen Nyagin. The 45th edition of the international tournament included in its program a 100 and 200-meter inclusive start, as well as shot put, in which 36 athletes with intellectual disabilities took part.

In the period 16-18 May 2023, an international partner meeting under the Fit For Kids Europe project was held in Amarante, Portugal. The main goal of the ”Fit for Kids Europe” project is to establish a network of EU sport associations and other related NGO’s who wish to collaborate on increasing the participation of inactive, overweight and obese children in after-school organized physical activities. Joanna Dochevska and Ivaylo Zdravkov – board members of BSDA – took part in the meeting on behalf of the Bulgarian sports development association (partner in the project from Bulgaria).

In the period 14-18.05.2023, in Lisbon, Portugal, an international partner meeting under the "Carbon Neutral Sports Club Network – C ZERO SPORTS CLUB" (Network of sports clubs without carbon emissions) project was held. During the meeting, the results obtained from the C ZERO SPORTS CLUBS study were discussed, as well as the goals and activities of the project, tasks and responsibilities between the partners were presented. The consortium consists of 7 partner organizations from Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Serbia and Turkey. Joanna Dochevska and Ivaylo Zdravkov – board members of BSDA – took part in the meeting on behalf of Bulgarian sports development association (BSDA).

In the period 12-17.05.2023, in Milowka, Poland, a training for youth workers working with young people with limited opportunities in their countries was held. Within the training program the metaphorical cards CHEER, the training videos CHEER and the CHEER podcasts, which aim to improve and optimize the mental health of young people, were presented and analyzed. Diana Hadjiangelova, Velina Toneva, Nadezhda Panayotova, Elena Dimitrova, Vladimir Spasov, Suleyman Suleyman and Petar Shopov took part in the international mobility, representing Bulgarian sports development association (the Bulgarian project partner).

May 9, 2023 marks the 16th anniversary of Bulgaria's membership in the European Union. Our country joined the European family in 2007, believing in the words of one of the founding fathers of the EU, Jean Monnet, "There is no future for the people of Europe other than in union". On May 9, 2023, from 10.00. until 12.00, in Zaimov Park, a sports holiday and celebration of Europe Day was held, which was attended by children from the capital kindergartens: kindergarten № 100 Acad. Petko Raikov; kindergarten № 104 "My World", kindergarten № 191 "A Tale Without an End", kindergarten № 195 " Mormarevi Brothers ". The host of the event was Nadezhda Panayotova, the Bulgarian voice of one of the favourite Disney cartoon characters – Elsa from Frozen.

On May 4, 2023, Bulgarian Sports Development Association held a training course under the "Sport for Every Child: Fit Kids" project. It was attended by more than 55 teachers, students, sports specialists and coaches, who got acquainted with the training program in detail and had the opportunity to discuss, exchange opinions, ideas and impressions regarding the conducted training modules. After the training, the participants expressed the opinion that sports and sports programs can be extremely beneficial for children suffering from various types of disorders. These programs can have a positive effect on children's physical and mental health, and can also help them develop in all aspects of life.

On May 4, 2023, Bulgarian sports development association held a dissemination event under the "Sport for Every Child: Fit Kids" project. The event was attended by more than 30 athletes with special educational needs who tried and tested the FIT KIDS training program, having the opportunity to discuss, exchange opinions, ideas and impressions. The training program helps children build self-confidence, improve their social skills and learn to work in a team. In this way, they cope better with stress and feel more confident in themselves in different situations. For children who suffer from various types of disorders such as autism, dyslexia or dyspepsia, such training programs can be extremely beneficial, enabling them to better cope with their challenges and develop in all aspects of life.

Bulgarian sports development association held an online training course under the "Sport for Every Child: Fit Kids" project. It was attended by more than 30 teachers, youth workers, volunteers and coaches, who got acquainted in detail with the training program and had the opportunity to discuss, exchange opinions, ideas and impressions regarding the conducted training modules. After the meeting, participants expressed the opinion that sports and sports programs can be very beneficial for children who suffer from various types of disorders, including ADHD, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma and stress-related disorders, destructive and impulsive behavior or depressive disorders.

In the period April 28-30, 2023, in Rome, Italy, the final partner meeting and a closing conference of the EWA project – Empowering Women Athletes: Tackling Feminine Abuse, Violence and Discrimination in EU Sports Clubs was held. During the event, the prepared training materials (Strategy and Memorandum) and the created centralized model of the "Help Desk – for athletes and women" were discussed with the partners, as well as the crucial role of sports professionals in the fight against abuse, violence and discrimination against women. Board members of BSDA – Ivaylo Zdravkov and Konstantin Zankov took part in the meeting.

500 children competed at the Vasil Levski Stadium on April 30, 2023 as part of the Darko Team Baby Cup – Volume 3. The competition was for children aged 4 to 13 and open to all comers – regardless whether they are carded athletes, members of a sports club or wanted to take their first steps in athletics.

Bulgarian sports development association took part in the international "Sport4Cancer – Mar Menor Games" event, organized by the University of Murcia (Spain) and the Union of Sports Federations of the Region of Murcia, with a team of 10 representatives with oncological diseases. Sport4Cancer included more than 120 sports activities and was held in the period 20-23 April 2023 in the towns of Cartagena, San Javier, San Pedro and Los Alcazares. The event was saturated with competitions, exhibitions and free sports activities for all spectators and guests. Project "Sport4Cancer" is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and 12 European partner organizations from Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Turkey, France, Croatia and Lithuania participate in it.

On April 21st 2023, in Berlin, Germany, a midterm meeting under the EntrepreNEETs initiative was held, which brought together the national coordinators from Bulgaria, Germany, Italy and Slovakia. ЕntrepreNEETs is a strategic partnership in the field of youth that aims to empower young female NEETs by providing them with entrepreneurial skills in the fields of social entrepreneurship, intercultural communication, project management, digital, and ICT skills.

On 19th of April has been held an EU Health Policy Platform Annual Meeting - Stakeholders’ Dialogue: Joint Statements, Study results and discussion, which was delivered in hybrid settings in Luxembourg and online. The morning session (9:30-12:30 CET) was dedicated to the presentation of the Joint Statements by its Thematic Network leaders, followed by a roundtable to share the lessons learned and possible improvements for next cycles.

In the period 13-17 April 2023, an international sports event was held in Rijeka, Croatia, in which a total of 60 athletes with intellectual disabilities from both countries took part. During the past year, the athletes conducted training activities, in order to be maximally prepared for the international event. The program included athletics, swimming, basketball and different sports games. The Bulgarian delegation included athletes from RCSPIE – Smolyan, State facility for adults with intellectual disabilities in the town of Banya – Sonic Start, SC Adapted Sports, Adapted Basketball NSA, Center for Secured Employment “Vduhnovenie”, Protected housing for persons with intellectual disabilities, Sofia. The sports event was held with the support of students from the Adapted Physical Activity and Sports specialty (NSA "Vasil Levski"), which is becoming more and more relevant and provides prospects for the development of young people.

On April 13, 2023 – the Holy Thursday, from 10:30. until 12:30 the traditional painting of Easter eggs and sports games took place on Sveta Nedelya Square and was attended by over 100 children from the capital's kindergartens. At 12:30 a festive procession started with children carrying icons and baskets of painted eggs, led by clergymen of the Sofia Holy Metropolis. The festive procession reached the "St. Paraskeva" church, 58 Georgi S. Rakovski St. along the following route: Hotel "Sofia Balkan Palace" – underpass of the metro station – Sofia Largo – "Dondukov" Blvd. – Georgi S. Rakovski Blvd. – St. Paraskeva Church. Before reaching the temple, the children were met in front of the central entrance of the Metropolitan Office Fire Safety and Civil Protection (MOFSCP), after which they went to the temple "St. Paraskeva", where the priests gratefully accepted the Easter eggs and cards from the children for the people in need.

In the period April 9-11, 2023, in the town of Strelcha, Bulgarian sports development association, together with the coaches and sports specialists from the volleyball club Ahil, Sofia, held training sessions under the Fit For Kids Europe project. 30 children between 7-10 years old, took part in them and took advantage of the innovative program to motivate children and parents for greater participation in sports and physical activity. The "FitforKids" training program is a combination of crossfit, aerobics and classic sports games in the school yard. The goal is to provide children and their families with a positive experience, combined with physical activity, in such a way that, after completing each "FitforKids" workout, they feel happy, proud and closer to their personal goals.

On April 9, 2023, in the town of Strelcha, Bulgaria, a training for sports specialists was held under the Fit For Kids Europe project. Sports coaches from the volleyball club Ahil, Sofia, took part in the training. During the event, organized by Bulgarian sports development association, the sports specialists had the opportunity to discuss and exchange good practices regarding successful motivation and the implementation of successful models for physical activity and sports for children and their parents. One of the most serious challenges faced by the children who want to be more active is the lack of accessible sports facilities and infrastructure.

In the period March 15-30, 2023, in Sofia, Bulgaria, on the territory of the “Vasil Levski” National Sports Academy, Bulgarian sports development association held a training course within the ACADEMY FOR YOUTH WORKERS 2.0 project. The participants had the opportunity to improve and increase their knowledge about youth work with a focus on online tools, finance and marketing, building a specific network of stakeholders, using online fundraising platforms, etc. 20 young people took part in the training course, who after passing the exam received a certificate for participation.

In the period 23.03. – 26.03.2023 in the town of Biržai, Lithuania, a final meeting under the Sport for inclusion and inclusion for sport – INsport project was held. The activities carried out and the results achieved within the framework of the project in the individual partner countries were discussed, as well as main recommendations were given for the future practical application of the INsport project, that seeks to encourage social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport through improvement of skills of coaches, trainers and other staff of organizations active in the fields of sport, youth work and social care.

In the period 23-26 March 2023, in Dublin (Ireland) was held the first offline project meeting of an innovative action, aiming to empower sport experts in school system, working with kids and youngsters from the autistic spectrum. An Autism and Behaviour Management training for P.E. school teachers is an Erasmus+ co-funded initiative, aiming to influence on better inclusion of students with autism spectrum disorders in schools and in sports also. By training P.E. teachers this project will influence their key competencies for working with students with ASD and, training a group of P.E. teachers will have a big impact on other P.E. teachers in each partner country. This will have an impact on raising awareness for sports activities for people with autism in the EU.
