BSDA is partner in Three Points Shot to Health project
09.11.2019
The general aim of our project is to plan special basketball training for children aged between 10 and 16 years old. The power and agility developed with plyometric training from an early age should be supported by special preparatory training. These exercises should support the muscles most commonly used in splash-based sports, the ties required for a good balance, and the joints with more mobility. In addition to power, all the related joints, muscles and ligaments should gain a high level of flexibility. In time, the risk of disability will decrease in strengthening and stretching parts. Of course, young athletes' desire to gain success in a short time or the success of the coaches should be slowed down. Young athletes should not be expelled from high-level competitions without their biological age and without being fully prepared physiologically. Especially coaches working in the 10-16 age range are required to receive special sports health training in the branch. This training is vitally important for athletes' health.
The specific objective of the action is to share the best practice practices for basketball and protect athletes, especially the youngest, from health and safety hazards by improving training and competition conditions.

The innovative aspects of this project consist of a new approach to non-formal education of trainers in order to protect young athletes from the inadequate training methodology.

The proposal is also innovative in following topics:
  • Educating coaches on the methods of workout with the aim of protecting the health of young players with the support of physiotherapists, sports doctors, kinesiologists. The project activities, including local, regional and national basketball authorities, will give people and institutions the chance to act together for the health of young basketball players;
  • A short film that involves young people who are new to basketball to prepare muscles and joints specifically for intensive and compelling training. This film will be an output in which the studies on increasing and strengthening the movement capacity of joint and muscle groups of young players are explained visually. In the film ,there will be special healing exercises for the most common injuries and the most challenging muscle and arthrosis groups, especially in basketball.

These two innovative approaches will enable the project to achieve a strong impact on target audiences. The project is sufficient for training coaches and raising their awareness at educational level.

The project’s main team consists of the project coordinator (applicant Kargenc Club), project managers (1 from each partner ), basketball coaches ( from each partner), 2 physiotherapists, a sports doctor and a kinesiologist. The project team is specialized in sports, education, motivation, research and innovation and exercise fields. They will act together in the development of an innovative teaching system and ransferring of information to target groups.
The project aims to develop practices on how to prevent the injury of young basketball players facing the same challenges in the entire EU region.

The project includes four countries (Turkey, Croatia, Italy and Bulgaria) the infrastructure basketball target group. Although there are many basketball clubs and schools working on this subject, there is not enough trained personnel that are qualified in sportsman health.
With the project the sharing of collaborative partnerships, experiences, good practices and innovative solutions among partner countries will be ensure.

The Three Points Shot to Health project is co-funded by Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
