INTERNATIONAL MEETING UNDER THE WAYWARD PROJECT WAS HELD IN ITALY

In the period 11–16.10.2022 in the town of Sassari, Italy, the final international work meeting of the WAYWARD project was held. The event was attended by representatives of the six partner countries – Bulgaria, Vietnam, Greece, Italy, Ireland and Mexico. The project consortium includes organizations working specifically with the target group (young people with intellectual disabilities) by using the Education Through Sport methodology. Representatives of Bulgarian sports development association were Konstantin Zankov, board member, and Teodor Petrov, a volunteer in the organization.
During the meeting, the successfully implemented activities and the available results of the joint work were discussed:
• The conducted international researches;
• The implemented practical trainings and workshops;
• The handbook, which will serve as a support material for youth organizations and operators in Europe and Asia in their work with young people with intellectual disabilities;
• The multilingual educational web platform.
WAYWARD is a capacity building initiative with the overarching am of empowering personal development, overcoming of stereotypes and social inclusion of young people (age 18-25) with intellectual disability in partner countries through the empowerment of youth workers and NGOs in terms of understanding and methodological toolset based on the Education Through Sport methodology. The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, capacity building in the field of youth.
