CHILDREN'S HOLIDAY OF THE SPIRIT AND SPORTS IN KYUSTENDIL

On 31.05.2023, with the blessing of His Holiness Metropolitan Sofia and Patriarch Bulgarian Neophyte, Episcopal Vicarage – Kyustendil, together with the Municipality of Kyustendil, Regional Department of Education – Kyustendil, Regional Library "Em. Popdimitrov" – Kyustendil, Regional History Museum "Acad. Yordan Ivanov" – Kyustendil, community center "Brotherhood 1869" – Kyustendil, Sunday School at the Church of the Nativity – Sofia, Sunday School at the Church of St. Martyr Paraskeva – Sofia, Art school "The New Masters" – Kyustendil, Association of Bulgarians with Asthma, Allergy and COPD, Bulgarian sports development association and Theater Company "Empty Space" organized a Celebration of the Orthodox Spirit and Traditions.
The holiday started in front of the Church of the Assumption with a solemn prayer, celebrated by His Eminence the Bishop of Belogradchik Polykarp, in collaboration with Archimandrite Isaac, episcopal deputy of the Kyustendil spiritual district and clergy from the city. The event was attended by over 270 children from primary schools and kindergartens in Kyustendil, who had the opportunity to participate in various educational workshops, as well as in sports and fun games organized by the team of Bulgarian sports development association. The host was Nadezhda Panayotova, the voice of some of Walt Disney's most beloved cartoon characters and host of the children's program "For Children with Hope" on the Diocesan Voice radio station.

During the event, Bulgarian sports development association held a dissemination event within the "Sport for Every Child: Fit Kids" initiative, which is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. The project promotes social inclusion and equal opportunities, with the main aim to develop a methodology for physical education using sports activities, sports games and exercises for children and youth with intellectual disabilities, developmental disorders and other disabilities. The project team is focused on the groups that have to overcome more challenges when participating in sports activities, games and exercises and the developed methods are suitable for children with ADHD, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma and stress-related disorders, destructive and impulsive behavior, depressive disorders, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, autism and low cognitive ability.

"Fit Kids" project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and is a collaborative partnership of 7 countries – Bulgaria, Slovenia, Italy, Romania, Sweden, Serbia and Turkey.
