The initiative is co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme and hosted by the Sports Association for People with Disabilities in Rijeka.
#BeInclusiveWaterPolo introduces an innovative approach to adapted sports by creating an environment where individuals with intellectual disabilities train and play water polo alongside peers with similar abilities. The concept was first successfully demonstrated during the Special Olympics Malta in 2022 and has continued to evolve through international cooperation.
The Bulgarian athletes will showcase the results of their year-long training as part of a pilot program for inclusive water polo, carried out at 131st Secondary School “Kliment Arkadievich Timiryazev”. The program has involved the SC “Adapted Sports” and experts in "Adapted Physical Activity and Sport" from the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski.
The participation of the Bulgarian team is made possible thanks to the efforts of the Bulgarian sports development association (BSDA) and the Bulgarian Swimmers Association, both official partners in the project. Stay tuned for more updates and inspiring moments from the event in Rijeka!
