Bulgarian sports professionals attended EmpowerSport training in Athens

05.05.2025
In the period May 1–5, 2025, an international training took place in Athens, Greece, as part of the EmpowerSport project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The event brought together 28 sports experts, youth workers, and physical education teachers from Bulgaria, engaged in developing inclusive and accessible sports practices, who had the opportunity to exchange experience and learn new practices from their colleagues in Athens.
The training program was extremely rich and diverse. The participants started with theoretical preparation in adapted physical activity, led by Konstantinos Pashos from the "Kinitiko” sports club. After the training, they visited the Olympic Museum in Athens, where they had the chance to experience the Olympic values in practice.
In the following days, interactive outdoor workshops were held, dedicated to sports with strong inclusive characteristics, such as bocce. The participants had the opportunity to practically apply the basics of inclusive physical activity, and under the guidance of experts, they created their own adapted lessons and programs. The final day was dedicated to summarizing the results, evaluating the knowledge acquired, and awarding certificates of participation. The training reinforced the participants’ commitment to using sport as a tool for social inclusion and development across all age groups and abilities.
The EmpowerSport project is coordinated by Bulgarian sport development association and will continue actively until 2027, providing valuable opportunities for experience exchange and professional development for sports specialists from Bulgaria throughout Europe. #EmpowerSport is co-funded by Erasmus+ Programme in the framework of Adult accreditation 2020-1-BG01-KA120-ADU-094689 with project number 2023-1-BG01-KA121-ADU-000112471.
