11.04.2025
On April 11, 2025, the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" in Sofia hosted a training on digital transformation in sports. The event was organized by Bulgarian sports development association as part of the FRIST – Digital Transformation for Sport Organisations project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
The training brought together representatives of sports organizations and administrators from across the country, who explored key concepts and practical solutions for the digitalization of sports management processes. The training was led by the digital marketing expert Konstantin Zankov, who shared valuable tips and tools for implementing effective digital strategies in the sports sector. During the event, the platform www.sportenkalendar.bg was also presented – an innovative tool that enables sports organizations to promote their events and activities, increasing their visibility and accessibility to a wider audience.

The agenda covered four main training modules, including an introduction to digital technologies in sports, case studies and best practices, assessment of the digital maturity of sports organizations, as well as development of an effective digital strategy.

The training marked the beginning of a long-term educational process that will continue with an international online workshop in September 2025, followed by a final hands-on workshop in Zagreb in November 2025. The Sofia session was part of a series of simultaneous trainings held in Croatia, Slovenia, and Hungary. All participants will receive ongoing support through mentorship and the sharing of experiences within an international network. Ten representatives from Bulgarian sports federations and clubs took part in the training. They were selected through a pre-screening process to ensure the participation of motivated and committed professionals with a strong interest in digital transformation in the sports sector.
