#IOFA Event in Sofia

04.07.2025
On July 4th, 2025, at the National Sports Academy “Vasil Levski,” Bulgarian sports development association organized an exciting orienteering sports event under the Inclusive Orienteering For All – IOFA project, which is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The children from the “Arts and Sports Kids Camp” dove into a dynamic mission with maps, teamwork, and lots of smiles – part of a wonderful IOFA event!
The event was carried out with the support of Sofia Municipality – “Studentski” District and the Local Commission for Combating Antisocial Behaviors of Minors, in partnership with the NSA “Vasil Levski.” The sports competition was held in the Trail-O format – an orienteering discipline that emphasizes not on physical activity, but strategic thinking, observation skills, and map orientation. More than 100 children aged between 8 and 14 took part and completed the control points course with great enthusiasm.
The main objectives of the activity were:
• Introduction to the basics of orienteering and Trail-O in an accessible and inclusive environment;
• Encouraging logical thinking, spatial orientation, and decision-making;
• Building confidence and a sense of achievement in participants through sport.
The event confirmed the success of the IOFA project as a platform for social inclusion through sport and inspired both the participants and organizers to continue the mission for more accessible and inclusive sports for everyone.
