IOFA project

#IOFA event in Sofia
07.07.2025
On July 7th, 2025, at the National Sports Academy “Vasil Levski,” Bulgarian sports development association organized a second consecutive orienteering sports event under the Inclusive Orienteering For All – IOFA project, which is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. This time the adventure was joined by new groups of children from summer programs in Sofia, who discovered with interest and excitement the magic of orienteering, combined with teamwork and lots of smiles!
The event was carried out with the support of Sofia Municipality – “Studentski” District and the Local Commission for Combating Antisocial Behaviors of Minors, in partnership with the NSA “Vasil Levski.” The sports competition was held again in the Trail-O format, which encourages observation, strategic thinking and map orientation instead of physical exertion. More than 100 children aged between 8 and 14 took part and completed the control points route, using logic, a map and a good mood.

The main objectives of the activity were:
• Introduction to the basics of orienteering and Trail-O in an accessible and inclusive environment;
• Encouraging logical thinking, spatial orientation, and decision-making;
• Building confidence and a sense of achievement in participants through sport.

The second event within the IOFA project confirmed the importance of the inclusive approach to sport and proved that orienteering can be exciting, accessible and inspiring for all children – no matter their ability or experience.
